The main reason for our day visit to Colico was to see Forte Montecchio Nord, from Colico train station we made our way over to the forte by foot, roughly a twenty minute walk, predominately flat. The Forte is only accessible by guided tour and...More

Dear Guest, we thank you for your review and for your compliments. Our guide, Stefano, was very happy to show you "our" fortress. We think that peace is only a word without visiting war's lands and without understanding our history. Thank you so mutch, and...More

Definitely worth visiting, if you are around and have some time to spend. The fort is well maintained, as the guns are drenched in oil, and an interesting piece of fortress and artillery history. Plan for around an hour and half, as the fort is...More

A wonderful first world war fort, wonderfully preserved, you could almost feel the troups there. The guns were amazing. The tour was in Italian and English, but the descriptions are in English too, so it won't matter if your guide's English is poor.
