Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What this Mr B... has done and is doing for the turtles is really praiseworthy. Without this action, we would not see the number of animals snorkeling today, and there were really a lot of them. My doubt was, why are there only 30-40 little ones swimming in the pool when you are told that a turtle lays around 90 eggs, the helpers watch and help the animals, then bring the eggs to the protected area and bring the hatched animals to the first pool. It should all be much bigger. Should the number of animals be limited, are there not enough donations to pay for the food for 8 months, ...? In fact, I saw very little willingness from other visitors to donate. So I donated a three-figure sum.

Cute.
Hundreds of little turtles waiting to grow to be released

If you are lucky there is a walled side of the beach with eggs under sand waiting for hatching

We had snorkeled with sea turtles and then chose to land on Gili Meno, to see the place. Very small place, but definitely worth a visit. The owner was there unfortunately not, so we around without associated story.
Meaning that such a small place also makes a difference. It runs solely on donation and the owner's own money.

This place is amazing, and the guy running it is doing his very best to help the turtles!
There were several nests being protected on the beach whilst we were there, and aside from the turtles they were helping an injured dolphin too.
The sanctuary is not overcrowded, despite other reviews, and any donations will help to provide better pools, and better quality food for the young turtles.
Absolutely recommend visiting and make sure to donate!

This is not your normal, funded conservation place. It's literally four pools with baby turtles and a board with some information. The turtles are super cute and the guy is just trying to give them a shot at life, as when they are very tiny they are prone to predators. Do pop along and give a donation.
However, side note, I'm a solo female traveller and the guy was a little pervy, kept looking at my breasts, asked way too many personal questions and asked me out for a drink. Doesn't mean what he's doing with the turtles isn't a good thing, of course, just ladies be wary!

This is terrible, baby turtles should not be kept for so long and should be released pretty much as soon as they hatch, no one is helping turtles by keeping them for so long, they are in fact even more likely to die, keeping them for so long confuses them and they won't survive in the wild, they won't be able to fend for themselves and will be used to being fed and not know how to find food. If any of these turtles survive it will be a miracle. I saw a few places around the island keeping baby turtles in small tanks or paddling pools this is really unacceptable and no quality of like literally in 2 inches of water they need to be able to dive and be in the sea. Places like this is one of the reasons turtles are going extinct, if you really want to help save turtles pick up plastic bottles and plastic bags. Plastic bags are one of the main causes of turtle death as they eat them thinking its a jellyfish. This is another tourist trap, don't give them money this does not help turtles.

We walked past the turtle hatchery several times before even realising what it was. When we saw it it was completely unmanned, just with a couple of signs saying 'do not touch'. It's quite cute, four little pools each with a collection of baby turtles that are separated into sizes.
It's no daytrip, but 10 minutes out of your day that will make you smile.
Oh and please don't touch them. It will likely kill them.

Spoke to the man looking after the turtles, he’s been doing it for 25years. Relies on donations to feed them fish from the market
Pools clean and he doesn’t allow people to hold them which I think is great as they won’t be contaminated by humans

It's not a big attraction, however, worth seeing while being on Gili Meno. Met a man /sanctuary keeper/ and had a nice chat. He answered my numerous questions about the initiative and he is really dedicated to what he is doing. Turtles are divided according to their age. The last year earthquake caused some damages, however, the sanctuary is functioning and saving turtles so that many of them could be met in the nearby waters.

This gentleman is really trying to do a beautiful thing here by rescuing these baby turtles. He is sitting there in his hammock all day next to the signs that explain he uses all his own resources to try and bring awareness to nurturing these tiny creatures and the warnings over the damage done to their environments. A small hut between the beach sidewalk and the shore, you can see them all swimming happily away from plastic and predators.
