I was in Gili Air and visited flowers and fire for couple of days, joined their yoga classes and I had the most delicious breakfast in the island. The place is tiny, beautiful, and homey. I didn't book my room here because they only offer whole retreat package but I'm sure I'll do that next time because the ambience is just what I'm looking for. I visited some yoga centers in Gilis and this one is the best. The teachers are amazing and attentive, many options of class in one day, cozy shala. Not forget to mention, amazing staffs! Andy was very welcoming and helpful, the other staffs were also friendly. I had some awful service experiences in Gili as I'm a solo local female traveller but not here, they treated me with so much respect. I had smoothie bowl and chose their peanut butter topping (Andy's recommendation) and it was sooo delicious and came in generous jumbo portion, the coffee could be improve.…

From the moment we bundled into Flowers and Fire Yoga Garden with our big backpacks, sweating and puffing away, the staff made us feel like family and were there to help in every possible way. There is not one negative comment (or even a small improvement) to come from our 3 day/2 night stay. Every meal left us speechless, the juices and smoothies were to die for, the grounds and rooms are like something from a movie and the yoga was out of this world. As complete beginners we were very nervous but instantly relaxed once we met each of the yoga teachers and realised they’re all so lovely and patient. Flowers and Fire have taken care of us during the scary times inflicted by COVID-19 and have healed our anxieties and stresses more than they’ll ever know. We can’t wait to return one day when the pandemic is over and enjoy the beautiful island retreat all over again.…

This yoga retreat was not willing to give a refund of £300 when we were not able to travel to Indonesia following official UK government advice not to travel to Indonesia due to coronavirus. They offered a credit which we explained we would not be able to redeem in future (even if there is no expiry date) as we are at the end of a long travel trip in Asia, so do not plan to return for some time due to finances (rather than a 2 week holiday which can be easily rebooked for some). Given we gave plenty of notice and the cancellation was due to official government advice (we informed them ASAP) we are disappointed they were not willing to offer a refund like other hotels and flights have offered in Indonesia. We are unsure if we will be able to claim this back on insurance at this time and even if we can, this adds more stress and will consume significant time with insurance claims for us to resolve. I would avoid this retreat if you are looking for a company which will be flexible and more understanding during an international crisis. I also did not appreciate the tone of the emails and explanations provided by the owner and customer service team. Rather than being open and upfront about financial difficulties from the start, they tried to sugar coat things sending lengthy emails insisting they were doing me a favor by offering a credit with no expiry, when in my opinion this should be a given in these circumstances.…

The best thing about Flowers and Fire is the people. The grounds are cosy and inviting, the food delicious, the pool tranquil; but the people are something else. Spend any time here and you'll see that both the yoga instructors and front of house actually care about you and your time there. Rach, Lisa, Sandy and Rudi you made my time on Gili Air amazing. What's more Ania is very present and cares about her staff, solidifying the whole atmosphere of kindness. Thanks for everything, Alex…

I wish I was better at taking pics of my food guys, seriously! Though I've just taken one of the beautiful setting and my masala chai (coconut milk). Let me start with the staff. Just delightful, helpful humans. The waiter is friendly and well-informed, and the chef is a sweetheart. I had the (vegan) gnocchi, which is made to a gluten free recipe. Comes in a home made pesto with side salad. The salad included leaves and raw, grated beetroot - one of my favourite things ever. The gnocchi itself was lovely, with roasted garlic and little pine nuts mixed in. The pesto was just the right blend between oil and basil. Overall: delicious. The chef came out to answer my query about what when into the gnocchi, and wasn't at all secretive about his technique. I'm looking forward to going home now to practise this delight. I rounded off with a masala chai, because why not! Less spicy and pungent than the masala chais I'm used to in India, though there I usually take it black because of the milk. This definitely had all the right flavours to identify as masala chai, and also it wasn't sweet, which is a massive bonus. I haven't paid the bill yet, though I think everything comes to around 100,000IDR which I think is about £5 or $/€7, though I operate in RMB so I may be wrong! Definitely pay this place a visit if you want a beautiful setting with wonderful ambience, great service and staff, excellent value for money, and of course mouthwatering food.…
