Took a taxi to see the pandas. Very disappointing. There was only one panda to be seen. All but one exhibit was empty. Panda that was visible was against the back wall, and we only caught a glimpse of it behind the bamboo.

I plan on going to Macau from Hong Kong just for the day specifically to go to Giant Panda Pavilion. When I arrive in Macau, how do I get there from the ferry terminal? Thanks in advance.

I hired a driver for the day. They probably have Uber's, taxis, or something
Do I need to buy tickets ahead of time (for December 31- 1 Jan 2017) or do you just turn up at the gate?

Turn up at the gate. Free entry to the park area and then you buy a timeframe (1hour increments) to go into the Panada enclosure. Plenty of availability. No need to prebuy. I'd recommend taking a taxi there. Flagging one... More

Yes, the pandas are in a pavilion, however, to see the rest of the animals, bring your umbrella.
