Yes, you have a very good chance of seeing elephants here, but the way the safaris are run is awful.
There were dozens of jeeps at every sighting, The poor elephants didn't know which way to turn. Some looked confused and had to make several...More
Yes, we saw only 5 elephants from a far and counted 52 safari jeeps. Honestly not worth the long hours and money. Maybe we should have started early in the morning to avoid the traffic jam within the park itself.
We took an afternoon safari here on February 26, 2019. The elephants had moved here due to rain in other areas had flooded their food. It was my first ever safari so not sure what to expect, but it was enjoyable. It seems like a...More
After reading the reviews I was a bit worried about visiting the park. However, there weren’t too many jeeps when we were there and there were lots of elephants. The jeeps were respecting the elephants by turning their engines off and moving out their way....More
It was an excellent experience, although there was quite a lot of jeeps, like we were. But our guide was trying to pass them, so that we didn't ride like in a convoy. But were elephants were, there was always some jeep. Expect a lot...More
We felt terrible but asked our driver to take us back to the car park, we couldn’t take the Kandy style traffic ram of jeeps all attempting to see the scant wild life in this park. Yes we saw a lovely family group of elephants...More
Don't expect Kruger, but it is worth visiting in a jeep for a couple of hours to see some elephants close up and a lot of birds. Don't be put off by the number of vehicles, they seem to help each other and take turns...More
Jeep Fees: LKR 6500 (No receipts so may find something cheaper as well)
Entry Fees: LKR 5000 for two roughly (For this you are provided a receipt so these are fixed)
The park is huge. There are lots of jeeps running around and they do...More
We saw 19 elephants in total and enjoyed the breeze in lovely viewpoint tower near the exit. If you’re ever feeling boxed in by the other jeeps just ask your guide to move on to a new area. This worked out well for us because...More
We received a recommendation from our host at The Green Village Dambulla to visit the Hurulu Eco Park as it had the best chance of seeing Elephants. The other 2 National parks nearby had too much water levels and therefore not a good place to...More

Hi, we (2 of us) did an 18 day tour of Sri Lanka arranged via a travel agent, Pan Lanka Travels and Tours who provided us with our own driver/guide for the full time. He will work independently and arrange car/tours/guiding/hotels/safaris to suit what you want. Perfectly possible to do Sigiriya - Anauradhapura or to Jaffna but do allow at least 1/2 day for Anauradhapura and travel time to Jaffna from Sigiriya by car would be a very long day. Prices - not sure but will be cheap.
Suggest you contact our driver - very safe, friendly and knowledgeable-Thushara Rajapaksha via WhatsApp and see what he can do.
A great island to visit.
