Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stoupa is a very quiet resort the beach is surrounded by lots of restaurants and bars
with out the loud music of most resorts ideal for family's and the more mature

Beach was great, lots of places to sit. Most won't ask you to pay for a reclining chair and parasol, but will ask you to buy food and drink from them. Fair enough 😄

Beach is lovely but gets extremely busy and very noisy when you go late June and onwards.
Best time to enjoy the tranquail setting is about 9.30am before the crowds arrive.
We were amazed to see towels on beds at 7.30am in the morning when we went for an early morning walk when it was cooler.
All sun beds are associated to the restaurant/cafe they are place in front of - some you need to actually order food and drink from and some charge you between 5euros - 10 euros for the day. Some do put boards up to advise their rules.
Very safe place to swim and great for children.

We found the southern end to be sandier when entering the water (the northern end has some stones and rocks before getting into deep water to swim). The sunbeds are free if you patronise the taverna/bar behind them that maintain them, plus you also get beach service to your sunbed. Also, as well as sunbeds and an umbrella, some have a small table plus a chair as well in the middle. Swimming is sublime. There is a lifeguard available at most times, plus the swimming area is well laid out and segregated with yellow buoy markers between the harbour/boating/water sports area. Showers are interspersed along the beach as well. Top notch all round! And what a setting too, with the Pelenitsa mountains of the middle Peloponnese finger as a perfect backdrop!

It is spoilt now. We returned to Stoupa this year after a break of several years. Sadly, its charm has disappeared. It has become a victim of its own success – great for the local economy of course, but not great for those who remember it from 20 years ago.

The beach used to have no permanent umbrellas up, just ones that holiday makers brought with them and stuck in the sand each day. Today it is almost wall to wall permanently cemented-in brollies that are too close together. Apparently in high season bars charge for the beds, but in low season they are ‘free’ (as long as you spend at the bars, which is fine). Many Brits pull the sunbeds together in little ‘enclaves’ and spend the day talking/shouting at each other even though they are only about 6 feet apart, slowly getting drunk whilst fellow Brits and other nationalities nearby lay or sit, trying in vain, to relax and ignore the noise. The number of annoyed faces I saw was shocking. In late summer the beach used to have just a small number of couples or families lazing and enjoying the sun and cafes. Those days are sadly long gone. Now there are thousands on the beaches. As mentioned, it has become too successful.

There seem to be quite a few ex-pat, or 'pseudo-ex-pats' there now, acting as if they own the village and renaming nearby villages because they can’t be bothered to learn how to pronounce place names (e.g. “Ag Nick”). Awful, just awful.
We haven’t been to Benidorm, but we think Stoupa may be heading that way, judging from other reviews we have seen here and others we have spoken to, while we were in the village.

We were almost hit by kids on electric scooters several times. Beware. They. Do. Not. Care.

There are still many tavernas, but several established favourites are no longer as special as they used to be. The quality of the food and the service just isn’t there. There used to be just a couple of relatively poor tavernas. Now it is the opposite - there are only a couple of good ones.

Although still a nice place to enjoy a beer or cocktail while the sun dips down nearly all bars have “lime juice” as an ingredient for nearly all cocktails. Very odd. This is usually done to mask the poor quality of the main alcohol shots in the drinks. In fact, one of the nicer looking cocktail bars (overlooking the bay) was reportedly selling Hendricks gin, which was asked for. What arrived wasn’t Henricks! There IS a difference.

There is virtually no local bus service any more in late summer, unless you get up very early. Buses used to run every 30 minutes or so, even in low season. You shouldn’t have to rely on taxis in Stoupa.

We have enjoyed many holidays in Stoupa over the past 25 years but sadly, staying in a variety of accommodation. Stoupa is no longer the ‘special’ place that it was and we will not be returning.

Bob Barrow would be turning in his grave.

Beautiful beach, with some beach chairs and umbrellas available for rent. Paddle boarding kayaks are also available to rent. Plenty of restaurants available for lunch and dinner beach front. It wasn't crowded at all when we visited Stoupa beach, multiple times in October.

I returned to Stoupa this September after a break of 9 years, and what a shock to see the beaches covered in sun beds. There was nowhere to put a towel down and have your own space or move from sun to shade.

It saddens me to say this as it was our favourite place for several years, but if you want a tranquil Greek holiday, don't come to Stoupa, it has been spoilt.

The village is now heaving with tourists and restaurants over-crowded. I am pleased that Greece is getting tourism back after Covid, but there is a difference from being busy to being overwhelmed.

A great beach.. sandy but lots of rocks once you are in the water to encourage fish/ make snorkelling fun. There are a large number of beds/umbrellas and you pay a small fee to the restaurant that supplies them and they will bring you drinks/ food to you. In August it’s a busy beach when you first look on it, but we soon found our way with it and it was really lovely. Restaurants are right across the road and Stoupa is relaxed enough that you can eat in them in straight off the beach or a bit more dressed up. There is disabled access point into the sea.

If you swim 50 metres out from the perfect sandy beach you can easily imagine how pretty the whole place would be without the thousands of people. It’s a unique beach in Greece; unfortunately everybody seems to know.

In the evening the beachfront turns into an amusement park crawling with people having a good time on the many restaurants, tavernas, bars.

It’s touristy the same way the Greek islands are. Tourists only! Some like it, others hate it. You be the judge.

Not one for us. A busy village, one way driving, very little parking. The beach was filled shoulder to shoulder with sunbeds, some little areas for those with their own chairs and umbrellas but mostly filled in with beds belonging to the beach front restaurants.
Totally different at night, the restaurants along the seafront sparkle in the lights and there is a great choice. But the masses of pink burned bodies during the day, no thanks.
