- Oranagra6 contributionsExtremely well maintainedI've been to many zoos, this one isn't huge but it's very nice. The enclosures are large and well designed and decorated and are VERY clean and well maintained. Good place to spend half a day with kids.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 18 September 2023
- Frau N15 contributionsBeautiful settingWe used our Salzburg card, took a bus out to the zoo on a very cold day in December. We felt like we had the place to ourselves at times, we saw so many animals, had a great snack in the café again only a few customers. We liked the porcupinesmost of all, but saw wildcats And many other animals. Would really recommend for families visiting the area.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 December 2023
- Hick_from_CTHaddam, Connecticut124 contributionsNicer than expected - definitely worth a visitWe weren't planning to go to the zoo, but we were wandering around Hellbrun Gardens and there it was. (We used a 1-day Salzburg card, which, between free public transportation and free access to most attractions in town, more than paid for itself.) Beautiful setting, with many animal enclosures along an escarpment that gave the animals plenty of room to move around while giving visitors a good look at them. The cafeteria food was reasonably priced and delicious. Definitely worth a half-day visit.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 August 2024
- József KBudapest, Hungary116 contributionsCombined with Hellbrun park it is a good tripWe planned to visit the Zoo. A side attraction was for us the Hellbrunn park. You have to pay for the parking. When we were there, there was enough space, and the parking ticket was not expensive. With Salzburg card we had got a free entry. I think there is no anything special. It is "just" a standard zoo, but combined with the Hellbrunn park it is a great program.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 August 2024

We went there yesterday with two little kids.
The tickets were pre-ordered and prepaid on-line in the web Shop.
The scanner at the main entrance didn't work when we tried to scan the mobile tickets and we asked the cashier at the counter for help.
She was very unhelpful and didn't even tried to go out and help us or assist us on some other way. It took a pretty long time for our family to get in.
The zoo itself was Ok , but be ready to walk much.
I think it was nothing special with the zoo. We live in Scandinavia and are used to this kind of t zoos in the natural environment and with a close contact to animals.

Nice setting, with good views across to the Untersberg. Decent enclousres where the animals have better than usual space to roam. Great range of wildlife, split nicely by continent, including jaguars, snow leopards, lions, cheetahs, arctic wolves and brown bears. Well setup for children with plenty of educational gizmos.
Easy to reach by bus (route 25) from Salzburg centre. Free access with a Salzburg card (which of course also includes the bus fares). Easy to walk between here and neighbouring Hellbrunn. And also easy to combine with a trip to the Untersberg (the cable car for which is also included on the Salzburg card).

Wonderful zoo in a beautiful setting. Located at the base of a mountain, the animals look well looked after in their spacious enclosures and an incredible variety. We used our Salzburg card but an absolute bargain at just 12 euros

Amazing zoo and beautiful animals, really lovely and well spread out. A really good day out and the animals are really well kept. Large enclosures and great carts to pull the children round on saves bringing the pushchair.

Well, this is a relatively small zoo. If you have Salzburg Card and some spare time, you can pay a visit. Otherwise i do not recommend you to go. But it is a safe and solid place to teach your child about the animal kingdom. I had pity for lions and other wild cats, because their containment spaces were small. Location of the Zoo is beautiful, near the Hellbrunn Palace.

It is a very nice zoo to visit as a family.
The animals feel very close to you. Although it is very small but it is planned very nicely Around a hill.
The African animals are kept beautifully and when you see them from above it seems like a scene from National geographic documentary.
Very relaxing atmosphere for entire family.
