Meritxell is one of the best hiking guides I've known : she's proficient in walking tours around Catalonia. She knows the region, lovely paths with great views and have great insight on nature and local culture.
Highly recommended.

A lovely day planned for three friends traveling in Spain. Jeff was a wonderful host and shared his knowledge of the region and the wineries we visited. We visited two wineries and had lunch with a wine pairing. The two wineries were very different and gave us a great view of the region. The day was fabulous and we appreciated the great service of planning the day and taking time to share with us great wine of the region. Thank you!

We spent two nights in the Priorat Region and were totally captivated by this very charismatic but largely unknown region. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular. We spent a day and a half in the company of the delightful Maritxella and Josep on two different excursions (even the meaning of El Brogit is somehow magical. There is no English word to translate it). On the first afternoon Josep picked us up from Marca-Falset station (two hours train ride South of Barcelona) and took us on a 4 to 5km walk around the hills overlooking the beautiful town of Grattallops. The bird life was abundant and Josep showed us many wild herbs. The area is peaceful, unspoiled and so so beautiful. The next day we drove to a Carthusian monastery in Scala Dei and set out on a 4k walk up to the cliff face. Again the views were wonderful. The monastery is well worth a visit. We then sat down to a delicious 3 course lunch with wine bread and water for a staggering €9 followed by a wine tasting of the Priorat wines which have become firm favourites of ours. Move over Rioja! I thoroughly recommend El Brogit and would definitely return to do more walks in this very special area of Catalonia. Thank you so much for a truly enjoyable trip.

We recently spent 10 days touring Spain and hands down, the highlight was the Private Wine and Oil Tour of Priorat.

The region is gorgeous and the wine and oil was amazing. Let's start that as a given.

However, the service and professionalism provided by El Brogit was over the top. From listening to what we were looking for and recommending even more, the day couldn't have gone any better.

Our driver Jeff picked us up at the train station and as he was driving us from winery to winery, he regaled us with the history of the region. He was friendly, knowledgable, and enthusiastic (and rather easy on the eyes if I do say so!)

We hit 3 wineries, had a delicious lunch with wine pairings at one, and the olive oil experience was beyond what we expected.

At the end of the day, we had to wait about and hour and 1/2 for the next train. Jeff actually dropped us off at a wine cafe and came back to take us to the train.

HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We booked a tour of Priorat which not many realise is one of Spain’s top wine regions.
Meritxell was a pleasant and informative guide who we have no hesitation in recommending – she arrived promptly at the agreed time outside our hotel in Calafell.
In the morning we visited an interesting wine co-op in Falset, then an olive oil producer, on to lunch and finally a family run winery in Porrera. Meritxell did a great job of arranging a last minute substitute visit when Marco Abella let us down (not her fault).
We thoroughly enjoyed our day.

Thank you Adrian for your review! Yes, Priorat is one of the top world wine regions but still few people realise it is also an impressive place to visit! We were happy to solve the issue with the winery (the first time this happens to us and the last I hope), and show you one of the most authentic wineries of Priorat. We will be more than happy to welcome you back.

What was intended to be an introduction to Priorat and Montsant wines turned out to be a deep-dive into the heart and soul of a magnificent region and the art of wine-making - seen through the "terroir" and tasted through the fruits of the land. Meritxell was the perfect guide - planning a near-bespoke tour for us, showing what makes Priorat and its wines stand out, and driving us around for the best views of the region. A must for (red) wine-lovers.

If you are on holiday on the Costa Daurada and love wine then a visit to the amazing Priorat region is a must. The wines are superb and world renowned and Priorat is only an hour or so from the coast. However, public transport is almost non-existent and a hire car would be hard work in this very rugged mountainous region. So what can you do?
We found the perfect answer. My wife and I travelled with the delightful Meritxell of the "El Brogit" Ecotourism company.
We were picked up at our hotel in Cambrils and set off over the mountains to the trendy wine D.O. of Montsant which surrounds Priorat. Our stop was in Cornudella de Montsant at the Baronia de Montsant Bodega. Our hostess was the charming and very knowledgeable Laura. The wines were superb and a number had won Decanter World Wines Awards.
Then it was more amazing mountain scenery as we made our way to the famous Carthusam monastery of d'Escaladei. This was the priory that gave its name to the region. The setting was truly inspiring.
A short drive through very classy vineyards brought us to Priorat's most famous winery, the Cellers Scala Dei. Before Priorat's fairly recent expansion and elevation to world class status, the region was known for this winery alone. The wines displayed the depth, intensity and elegance which make Priorat so special. Lunch was then taken in a restaurant, serving typical Catalan food and wine, in the pretty village square.
More fabulous scenery as we headed to the Consolacio Chapel of Gratallops. This involved a steep winding climb up the mountainside through the world illustrious Ermita vineyard of Alvaro Palacios. The wines from this vineyard sell for £600 a bottle. The climb was rewarded by fantastic views of the surrounding countryside and an opportunity to examine closely the famous Licorella slate soil which gives the wines their power and intensity, and vines that produce only about two pounds of grapes per bush.
The final stop was in the village of Gratallops itself and was the very small but lively Davinssi Bodega,.
Meritxell is very passionate about the Catalunyan countryside, people and culture and had so much of interest to show us and tell us throughout the day. It was a pleasure to spend time with her. Priorat is the most spectacular and fascinating of the many wine regions we have visited, and this was an ideal way to see it. Thanks Meritxell.

Dear Ron, Thank you so much for your review! We are very very happy that you enjoyed your visit with us, it was a great pleasure to show you our territory and at the same time enrich ourselves with your wide knowledge on wine regions. Yes, Priorat is very impressive, although still quite unknown for tourists. Great reviews like yours after your lovely experience will for sure help our territory. We will be happy to welcome you back! Just keep in mind that in our small territory, a bit further south or a bit further north, have other impressive different landscape with other appellation of origin of wine. ;-)

If you are on the Costa Daurada and are interested in wine then you must visit the highly regarded but not very accessible Montsant and Priorat regions. Public transport is very poor and a hire car would be very hard work in the rugged mountains.
What can you do?
We found the perfect answer and went with the charming Meritxell Omella of the "El Brogit" tourism company.
Meritxell is passionate about the countryside, people and culture of Catalunya and had so much of interest to tell us and show us throughout the day. Priorat is the most spectacular and fascinating of the many wine regions we have visited.
We were picked up at our hotel in Cambrils and headed over the mountains for our first stop at the Baronia de Montant Bodega in Cornudella de Montsant. The wines were superb and Laura was a delightful and very knowledgeable hostess.
More mountains and we were off to Priorat and the spectacular setting of the famous Carthusian Monastery of D'Escaldei. Just down the road we then visited the Cellars of Scala Dei and tasted the wines which helped make the region famous. Lunch was at a typical restaurant in the village square.
After lunch we headed for the Consolacio chapel of Gratallops, climbing a steep hillside through the world famous Ermita vineyard of Alvaro Palacios. We were rewarded with fabulous views of this unique wine region. Our final stop was at the very small but lively Davinssi Bodega in Gratallops itself. Meritxell then returned us to our hotel with a few bottled souvenirs, tired but very happy indeed.
My wife and I had a wonderful day and are truly grateful to Meritxell for making it possible.

We loved walking through the vines and seeing olive and hazelnut trees. We very much appreciated Meritxell’s knowledge about the environment, history, and winemaking in the Priorat region. All the tastings (wine, vermouth , and olive oil) were so informative. A great day!

I've gone on a lot of vineyard tours, but this was the best. Jeff was a great guide. Helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable, and he introduced us to a whole host of warm and welcoming folks along the way.
The landscape of Priorat left me speechless. The wines (especially at Cal Pla - an 11th-generation winery) were amazing. Lunch at Ca l'Artur was delicious.
