Diving with a team of Coco diving center made my trip to Cuba unforgettable! I found information about this center on the Internet and send them an email. They responded shortly, organized transfer from my hotel for free, and provided everything for my first diving experience. Our instructor was Ernesto, he was friendly, patient, and professional. One of the girls in our group was a bit afraid, he helped her to calm down in the water, he felt quite confident by the end of diving. I immediately book another visit. It was 8 meters dive, and I was lucky to see a shark (it's safe, don't worry) and other amazing fishes. All team is so nice, so friendly, I was even sad that I didn't manage to get a full diving course. Thank you guys for your hospitality and proffesinalism, I hope to get back one day for another dive!

I had planned a trip to Cayo Coco with about 5 months advance notice. In reading the reviews of this dive centre, please be mindful of the dates of the reviews. The poorer reviews are from a significant time ago. With that being said, I kept my awareness at the highest level possible, as one should with ANY dive centre in ANY country. I had communicated with Yail via email throughout my planning process. I followed the weather forecast which indicated high winds for 4 straight days during my anticipated dive date. I felt no pressure to dive in rough water and was easily able to reschedule my dive from Saturday February 29 to Wednesday March 4. The dive centre is located at the MELIA CAYO GUILLERMO. If you are staying at a neighbouring resort, you may be lucky enough to be on the Tour Bus Route. I was staying at the MEMORIES FLAMENCO BEACH CAYO COCO with was about 40 minutes away by bus. An easy peasy trip for 5 CUC. I arrived at 9:40 am for the 11 am dive and I was glad I had. I chose the gear I wanted (brought my own mask, pipe, fins and camera) and relaxed on the beach until the group was ready to rock and roll. All dives are BOAT DIVEs; however, you gain access to the boat from the shore in full gear (minus fins). My dive was an 11:30 am "shallow dive" ~ to dive site #12 - Servimar - max depth listed at 17M ~ 15 minute boat ride from shore. It is a little snug on the boat but NOT crowded. 7 divers, 3 staff and the boat captain. Feeling the warm spray on your face was far more welcome than what I was used to in Atlantic Canada !!! Find a place to grab onto in case of choppy water... there is a "hand grab" spot under the seat. Once you put on your fins in the boat, foot space gets crowded... Overlap one foot on top of another foot to create some space while you prep for a rear-entry into the water. This was not a self-explore dive, per se. Rene Alejandro and Julio kept us in a fairly tight group, there was not really an opportunity to "take off" with your dive buddy. With that being said, a solo diver need not have to seek out a dive buddy in order to enjoy this dive. The boat drifted with the group, so there is no fear of getting lost from the group / boat. Once in the water, it felt like I was in a professional fish tank! Lots of fish! The highlights of the dive include (but not limited to) - HUGE grouper, rays trying to hide in the sand, 2 sea turtles and kissing gourami showing off for me! Total dive time was 45 minutes and I used up all of my air quicker than I really wanted to (35 bar remaining). My bad. The gear was well-used, but more-than-adequate for this dive. During my pre-dive check, I had noticed a damaged pull vent on my BCD and Osvaldo repaired it immediately! No excuses... just professional management of the situation. If you have any hesitation in diving here, don't worry. I did not feel any sensation that they were "just checking boxes", if you know what I mean. They were in charge of my safety, first and foremost, and to make sure I enjoyed myself. In my haste leaving, I had forgotten my dry bag at the dive centre. I took a taxi back and was lucky enough to catch Ernesto just as he was locking up for the day. My dry bag and gear was locked in a secure area. Muchos gracias, Coco Dive Centre!

Spent the week, planning to do only 1 dive, but couldn’t resist adding more dives every day during my stay. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive to your request ( I was travelling without diving buddy ) and they paired me up with awesome friendly canadian diver, and also with the master few times. felt welcome regardless of my level or experience, and I got amazing adventures and discovered fantastic reefs, beyond what I have seen in Cayo Santa Maria. I have seen several reef sharks and nurse sharks, as well a multitude of other sea life. Special thanks to Roy, which killed several lionfishes to preserve marinelife, and showed us hidden creatures in small places we wouldn’t have noticed on the first glace. The boat is little small, therefore you must return to shore between each tanks, which is only 12min boat ride from modt sites, but it give time to pick up more divers for the shallow sites and chitchat wit new people. I recommend this friendly dive shop, and ideally you should stay at Melia CG, so you have direct access on site.

We visited Caya Coco in May and ended up visiting Coco Diving centre. Everyone was very professional, knowledgable and helpful. It wasn't busy at this time, it was just 4 of us and 2 diving instructors, so lots of one-on-one attention if you are a new diver. I am not a great swimmer and was very anxious during the pool training, however the instructor was calm, supportive and calmed me down. He stayed with me throughout the dive which eased my anxiety. Overall, it was an absolutely beautiful experience. I couldn't have asked for a better dive, will definitely return next time!
