The Duomo is nice, the staff outside is horrible. They are rude and they were laughing at some people. (Just because of the appearance) Go with shoulders, back and legs covered or you’ll need to pay 1 euro (it doesn’t say nothing on the website...More

Duomo di Monreale is a very impressive cathedral with wonderful mosaics and much more! Entrance is for free but an audio guide costs 5 euros (which is definitely worth paying so that you understand what you see inside) It can be reached by bus from...More

The Monreale Duomo experience was let down by 2 factors. One, public transport to monreale is dismal. Bus 389 comes only once every hour and we finally decided to take a taxi (20 euros from piazza independicenza). Two, while the main cathedral is not ticketed,...More

Monreale is a very pleasant hilltop town with several squares surrounded by cafes and restaurants, but the Cathedrale is the standout feature. The Cathedrale di Monreale and cloisters are reckoned to be the finest buildings in Sicily – and I can believe it. The Cattedrale...More

This is one of the most beautiful churches we have seen in Europe. The mosaics art depicting the stories of the old and New Testament are rich in color and details. This is a must see for those travelers that like history and art.

Most tour groups will go here because entrance to Monreale is free whereas there is a charge to enter the older Capella Palatine next to Palazzo Reale. It is worth going in order to see a different area of Palermo and views of Palermo from...More

We took an afternoon trip to Monreale from the centre of Palermo. Pretty good value - 30 euros each way by taxi. It's a lovely little town and the duomo exceeds expectations in every way. It's lovely inside with lots of gilt and mosaic and...More

Worth visiting Monreale for this cathedral alone. The mosaics inside are outstanding and worth spending more time to see it all if you can.

This must be one of the beautiful cathedrals in the world. We had the good fortune of having a tour manager who gave us considerable information on the rich history of the building itself and explained the imagery It had magnificent mosaics - just stunning.
