Ellen and I decided that there was more to experiencing the great outdoors than heading off to the Alps or Dolomites again, and chose instead to explore our own great outdoors here in the U.K. Simon and his team provided perfect pre expedition information and advice, and we were well prepared for our 5 day iconic Cairngorms experience. Simon led the walk in what turned out to be extremely challenging weather. Gusting winds up to 80kph, squally rain and often poor visibility, however still with fantastic snatched views of the wonderful Munro filled environment. Our group was really fun, full of blether and laughter, even in some trying conditions, made possible by Simon’s inspirational leadership and calming presence. Wild camping in remote locations can’t be beaten in my book, and the quality of the kit provided by Cairngorm Treks was first class and proved it’s worth, day after day.
I guess the proof of the pudding is that we now feel inspired to do more, and will definitely be back to Simon and his team.

3 days walking.. two nights wild camping... and yoga twice a day... fantastic. Our guide Simon was very knowledgeable regarding the flora and fauna.. and the mountain terrain..
It was wonderful to experience yoga in the mountains and Lindsay the yoga teacher was very much aware of the needs of the group... and adapted the yoga accordingly.. The whole experience was good for my body... my soul... and my mind. Thank you Simon and Lindsay and the great cheerful people who took part in this adventure.

Stravaig with confidence

A wonderful four day stroll or “stravaig” with Simon (and Taiga) of Cairngorm Treks. We were treated to some incredible views, fabulous wildlife encounters, surprisingly delicious meals, shared stories and experiences which brought much joy and mirth, all amongst the wild serenity of the Cairngorms. An absolute must do.

Simon met us at our b&b on the first morning at 9am to help us with our packing. Don’t duplicate and don’t carry unnecessary stuff! He provided everything except for our clothes/shoes, and advised us so it was easy to pack light. We ensured we’d pared down to the necessities with the odd luxury (my crocs for the evenings) and he checked out our pack weight. All ok and we were off to Rothiemurchus to begin our four day stravaig! Seeing the flora and fauna change as we made our way up was wonderful and was ably supplemented by Simon’s extensive knowledge of everything Cairngorm. We had asked for support in navigation, dealing with exposure and he provided ample opportunity for practice. We also feel confident that we could camp high in the future and have a stronger understanding of the ethics and challenges of wild camping in exposed areas.

We woke one glorious morning to the reindeer munching quietly by our tent. It was very special. Each evening we would camp high and take on a peak without the weight of our packs, safe in the knowledge we would return to our camp with yet more magnificent views stored away in the memory banks.

Simon was a fount of knowledge and full of enthusiasm plus Taiga an incredibly well trained and lovable addition to our camp crew. Kerry deserves a special mention too for the fab food!

We loved every minute and would thoroughly recommend a trip with Simon and Cairngorm Treks.

Really enjoyed my 2 day trek in Cairngorms led by Simon. Couldn’t fault the organisation, the route and the equipment. All superb. I had total faith in Simon to look after our small group. He is very knowledgable and so encouraging. Thank you.

We decided to visit Scotland for a week’s holiday on the back of a conference in Geneva.

As keen outdoors people, our idea of a great holiday is to get into nature, and where possible to hike.

My partner spent considerable time researching the best walks in Scotland and kept coming back to The Cairngorms/The Highlands as the place to go.

However, our research also suggested that we might be a little too inexperienced to hike the Cairngorms on our own. While beautiful and challenging, the Highlands can also be highly changeable and prone to weather extremes.

For this reason, we decided to ask Simon from Cairngorm Treks to guide us for a three day, two night hike.

Simon met us with his beautiful dog Taiga in his brand new van outside our Airbnb and drove us to the start of the hike.

Impeccably organised, after a short briefing and gear check, we set off on our hike, beginning in dense forest before taking a morning tea break by a beautiful stream in brilliant sunshine.

From that point onwards our adventure truly began. I’ll leave the remainder of that experience to you to enjoy.

The experience with Simon and Cairngorm Treks was superb from beginning to end.

Highly recommended.

I’d researched various companies and guides and due to positive reviews we chose Simon and this company. I was thinking he couldn’t be as good as everyone was saying- but he was! It was a more amazing hike than I’d imagined! Simon is so down to earth and genuinely wanted us as hikers to enjoy nature and the beauty of the Cairngorms. 100% would recommend this company, definitely was worth it! We did a 3 day 2 night hike which was a great amount of time. Simon is so knowledgeable about the mountains and we had so many great discussions. Don’t miss this guided tour!

A fantastic trekking experience.
Simon is passionate about the Cairn Gorms and it was great that he shared his knowledge with us.
Lucy’s yoga sessions were also very therapeutic after a day on the mountains.

Honestly can’t rave enough about how amazing the hike was. Simon was the best. Provided awesome gear, tips on packing and hiking, and set up of camp. Extensive knowledge of weather, flora, wildlife, geography, history, and awesome scenery. He was caring, giving and a great conversationalist. My friend and I will never forget our conversations, our jokes, and the good times. Would love to do it again with him! Walked away from time well spent In the mountains! Also loved his dog!!!
Highly recommend booking if you are thinking about it!

Just back from a fabulous 3 day wellbeing trek with Simon and Shona. This was my second trek and it was even more fantastic than the first. Excellent tuition, guiding and coaching and an in depth knowledge of the area, landscape and its history. Will be back next year!

Spent a wonderful 3 days with Simon as our mountain guide and Shona as our spiritual guide on a wellbeing trek in June 2019. Met an amazing group of people. I cannot speak highly enough of both Simon and shona. Simon is an amazing guide and great companion - all the gear I was supplied was excellent , I felt completely safe in his hands and the whole experience was both challenging and relaxing. He has so much knowledge to share -navigation, mountaineering, flora and fauna... and a great person to chat to.
Shona balanced everything perfectly -introducing exercises, poetry, love of mountains and meditation into the mix. She got her input just right. It was an unforgettable trip! I didn't want the journey to end! Will be back.
Definitely recommend it if u want an adventure with great people and amazing guides.
