The Distillery Walk was the highlight of my day! Michelle did a masterful job imparting us with information about the whisky-making process and the people associated with it. Plus we got to sample 11 whiskies over the 3.5-hour walk. I learned a ton about whisky and the region - I highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about whisky.

We did the walking whisky tour on Tuesday the 10th of March,
Even though other distilleries shut down because of the Corona virus Michelle decided to go on with the tour. It was a very nice experience.
We walked for about three and a half hours while Michelle teached us a lot of the history of whisky and more. In the meanwhile we tasted 11 whiskies. Because she did this with so much knowledge and passion we enjoyed it very much. We would recommend this tour if you want to taste nice whiskies and learn about the history as well.

We had been planning our trip from the US to Scotland for many years. We cancelled twice due to the pandemic but FINALLY got to go. Although there for a couple weeks, we wanted to plan something awesome in advance in terms of learning and tasting the fabulous whisky of the Speyside area for a couple days. After carefully researching all options, we selected Michellle and Speyside Tours. We arrived in Dufftown in the afternoon, checked into our B&B and then met up with Michelle's walking tour. It was a delightful day and a fantastic experience. Michelle has lived in Dufftown her whole life and is a wealth of knowledge! She knows EVERYTHING about whisky, the region, the people, the history and chocolate! That's right, we were on the Whisky & Chocolate Tour! Michelle selected precisely the right chocolate for each whiskey tasting. We started at her home office garage where we were issued whisky glasses tied to a lanyard that we had around our heads. We hiked through town and the beautiful countryside, taking relevant stops along the way. Michelle had a large backpack full of great whiskies and a several tins of different chocolates. We would stop in front of a distillery, and she would give us all the background while pouring tastings and serving chocolate. It was so cool! The walking tour was a group tour of about 12 of us.

We weren't done with Michelle. The next day, we had booked a driving tour with her. She used her van and took the 4 of us to Speyside Cooperage where we got to see how whisky barrels are refurbished. Then we went to Cardhu Distillery where we got a professional tour from the distillery. It ended with a nice group tasting plus a cocktail. Then Michelle drove us to the River Spey where we hiked down the riverbank and had a delicious sampling of more whiskies from the area. Then we went to Glenfiddich / Balvenie and did more sampling and gift shopping. From there, Michelle cooked us a traditional Scottish lunch with amazing food (salmon, venison) and delicious desserts....PLUS - a cocktail. Following lunch, we took a digestive walk, looking for local botanicals suitable for making gin. This was so fun! We came back to Michelle's office/garage, and proceeded to distill our own personalized gin using some of our fresh botanicals!

Overall, I highly recommend Michelle and Speyside Tours. We felt that it was well worth the cost. This was one of the best parts of our entire Scotland adventure!

Our two day tour with Michelle could not have been more perfect for our weekend in Scotland. We did one day with her and her Gin school which was such a unique experience. We foraged for local ingredients in the woods and then she helped us to create our own unique blend of botanicals to distill into our gin. She made us an incredible homemade lunch and displayed the utmost hospitality. In the afternoon she took us around to some of the local distilleries and poured us a few tastes while she told us about their histories. Then the next day we did a full afternoon with her including a distillery tour at Craigallachie and a very unique tasting sitting by the river to conclude our trip. At every turn Michelle was knowledgable and a delight to be around. She enhanced our trip greatly and would recommend her to anyone looking for a unique foraging/gin experience or a whisky tour!

Our large group have just returned from a week in Dufftown, enjoying whisky experiences which were massively enhanced by Michelle and Andrew. Their local inside knowledge and guidance of where to go (and where not to go) made organising our trip so much easier. The two full days out and dinner they arranged for us were amazing, taking us to places we could not have accessed on our own. Michelle's home cooking for our two lunches was top notch and as for her 3 hour Distilleries Walk with chocolate pairings... OUTSTANDING! Not only that but we were still treated to her mum's famous shortbread (watch out, Walkers of Aberlour!). Michelle's knowledge of all things whisky, coupled with her great sense of humour made our holiday exceptional. Andrew - Mr. Reliable - drove us around through sun, rain and snow with great diligence, and waited patiently while we spent far too much time (and money) in the various distillery shops!
If you're planning to spend time in Speyside doing anything whisky related, it would be foolish not to consult with Michelle and Andrew to see what hidden gems they can show you, particularly if you're looking to go beyond the "bog standard" offerings. We WILL be back...!

The cultural, historic and technical knowledge Michelle has was remarkable. Her enthusiasm was infectious and her story telling made us all ask questions, leaving us wanting more. This is, without doubt, the single best guided tour I’ve ever been on. Oh and the whisky samples and food pairings were first class. (Her mum’s shortbread was outstanding by the way!)

Did the walking tour with Michelle first, as previous reviews say an excellent way to learn about Dufftown and whisky. Michelle’s tour was highly informative and interesting but in a relaxed humorous overtone. The whisky we drank was also of quality, no supermarket cheapos !
Following day Andrew picked us up from our holiday rental for our previously booked Whisky day tour, the morning was spent at Cardhu and Glenlivet tasting. Lunch which was of fantastic quality and lots of it was spent at Andrew and Michelle’s house where we were made very welcome and treated to a couple more tots for post lunch. The afternoon connoisseur tour was spent at Glenfarclas before we were dropped back home . Andrew was like Michelle also being informative, interesting and very friendly.
Next year’s holiday in Dufftown will again be using the services of Andrew and Michelle who provide an exceptional but also great value for money service. Plus they make you feel very welcome. Highly recommend.

Thankyou Michelle and Andrew for a brilliant experience spent in your company. Andrew collected our party of six from our accommodation in Elgin and delivered us back after our visit. This is not just a whisk you round and get you out through the shop in order to wrestle a few quid out of you. Collected at 2.15, back at our accommodation for about 8.30. Michelle is a wealth of information and gauges her audience well. The tour is a walking tour and takes in all 9 distillery sites in Dufftown. She not only lets us know the brewing process but gives an insight to the brewers, maltsters and influential individuals since the early 1800’s. We also got to taste 16 local brews and food accompaniments to go with them. We also got to know both the benefits and proportions of water to have with our whiskies. Our party of 6 had an age range from 30 to 70. This walking trip appealed to and was immensely enjoyed by all of us. Thanks again Michelle.
Thanks also to the 4 guys from Sheffield with a dog apiece who were great company along the way.

We can’t recommend Michelle and the walking tour of the distilleries enough. A fabulous afternoon, learning about all the distilleries in Dufftown and tasting at multiple stops along the way. Michelle is an engaging and attentive guide with amazing knowledge about whisky and the area. The fantastic addition of various homemade foods with the whisky was a brilliant touch - and she carried all this with her in her rucksack! The afternoon flew.
If you are in the area - you must do a tour with Michelle!

Absolutely brilliant time with a very knowledgeable tour guide. I would 100% recommend this to anyone that is able to walk for a few hours, as it’s a brilliant way to learn about the process and different brands of Whisky.

The pairing of food to whiskies is fantastic, and will open you up to new ideas of your own for the future.
