Went for Sunday lunch with my wife and son this past weekend - and the food was exceptional. Aside from the fact that everything TASTED fantastic - the portion sizes and value for money were unbelievably good. My wife and I both had Mushroom Wellington (which came with more than ample roast potatoes & glazed veg) - and my 3 year old had the 'kids' roast'. The kids' portion was very large - but I stepped in (selflessly) to help him finish. Desserts were similarly brilliant - and we had Sticky Toffee Pudding, Crumble and some Honeycomb ice-cream. Once again, value for money was unmatched in our experience. We'll be heading back soon - and bringing more family with us!

We got married here last saturday (29/02/2020) We had the best day ever. Everyone at Blackstock made our day so special, nothing was too much effort and all the staff were lovely. Everyone loved the venue and the food was delicious. I want to say a big thank you to the security guard he made sure all my guests got back to their rooms ok and he took our cards/gifts and cake to our room for us. I am so happy we chose here as our venue i wouldn't have had anything different as our day was so so perfect. Thank you so much.

Massive THANK YOU to everyone at Blackstock Country Estate for making our wedding day the most perfect day. The venue is amazing- plenty of space, tons of character and the layout between the two barns allowed our day to flow well. All the staff at Blackstock were attentive and friendly during the planning of the wedding and on the big day. The food for our wedding breakfast and breakfast the next morning was delicious. We literally couldn’t have asked for more- would 100% recommend Blackstock as a wedding venue, you will not be disappointed.

We visited this venue again last week with around 35 of us in the party. The ladies were invited on this occasion and we were all looking forward to a nice night out, l have reviewed this venue before and having taken into account the comments by the management thought I would give it another chance so I was really surprised to find that not a lot had changed, when we arrived I asked the barman for a glass of water and was told in a curt manner that it was on the table which is was not no sorry madam or a courtesy of any kind I then had to ask fore some ice which I was given. We sat down to the meal and we waited for the first course which consisted of 2 options my friend a I had the Brie you got 2 pieces and one or hers was hollow mine was cold, my friend adjacent had minestrone soup which appeared to contain what looked like a tin of spaghetti as every bit of pasta was uniform and had the taste of tinned pasta, this was followed some time later with the mains (3) choices, three of us had chosen the Scampi and I quote "Homemade tartar sauce and chunky chips" the tartar sauce was basically mayonnaise with something green which I assumed was capers I suggest you look at your recipe. The Scampi had obviously been pre-cooked and left on a hot tray as the tops were soggy and the bottoms showed signs of being over cooked, the "Chunky chips" well what can I say see the picture attached, and finally those of us who had the casserole type thing the dumplings were solid and the vegetables were grey (see other picture) and the straw that broke the camels back was when my friend was charged 4.80 for 1/2 pint of shandy when the men were only paying that for a pint of beer. As she had had it made with bottled beer then surely she should have been given the remainder of the bottle to top up her drink as a shandy consists of half beer and half lemonade so what happens to the rest of the beer! There were only 3 staff so service was slow often the last main coming out when the first people had already finished this may have impacted on the whole event.

Dear Jacqui 1956, Once again, I am sorry you have felt it necessary to write such a scathing review of our food rather than contacting us directly, as I suggested when you last wrote a similar review. Since your review in February 2018, we have held in the region of 200 weddings, with every wedding couple bar none complimenting us on the very high standards of our food. Indeed, the organisation you attended the dinner with back in February 2018, as well as on this occasion, have held their regular monthly dinner meetings with us for around 5 years now, largely due to the quality of our service and reasonably priced menus. As a Director of Blackstock Country estate, I have always pushed for excellence with our food and service. All our food is made fresh for every function and we do not purchase premade food for re-heating. Our deep-fried brie wedges are plated and delivered straight to the table from cooking. As such the ‘hollow’ breaded brie wedge you mention is likely to have been that the melted brie has poured out of the breaded case once sliced in to. I am sure you would agree it would be a very clever chef who could create a ‘hollow’ breaded wedge without anything inside to form the wedge shape! The chips you mention were in fact described on the menu as rustic fries, as opposed to chunky chips. With regards the one piece of grey baby corn in your photo, I have spoken to our chefs who send their apologies for letting this slip through the net. All of our vegetables are ordered in fresh weekly for every function, so I do apologise that there must have been a rogue piece of baby corn in the pack supplied. The minestrone pasta used for our homemade minestrone soup was hand broken dried spaghetti pasta. We do not put tuna in our minestrone neither do we use tinned products. With regards our drinks prices, a half pint of shandy costs £2.30 and a pint £4.60. Looking at the picture you have kindly posted, this would appear to be one of our pint size glasses. I have not been made aware by the organisers saying that service was slow. Indeed, on the night the organiser thanked our staff for the food and service provided saying he was very pleased. I have spoken to our head waiter on the evening, who has Michelin star experience as a head waiter in a busy London restaurant. He apologises that there may have been a slight delay with service however this was largely due to not being previously informed where guests would be seated along with their choice of menu, which is usually what we would ask for. Unfortunately, without being provided this information, it meant having to ask each individual guest what they choice of food was from the pre-ordered menu, some of whom couldn’t remember what they’d chosen. It was agreed with the organiser after the evening that in the future they would provide this for us to further speed up service. Once again Jacqui, I’m sorry you feel we are not up to your expectation and that you again felt it necessary to promote your feelings on social media rather than contact me directly. Naturally I fully understand should you prefer not to return to our functions again. Kind regards, Paul Salvidge Director

In 2018 we got married here. We literally could not have asked for better service from the staff, they were so friendly and amazingly supportive, they all went the extra mile. The venue is stunning, great for the ceremony, meal, dancing and photos. We had the most perfect day, with no glitches. One we will never forget. Thank you Blackstock. We returned a year later to celebrate our first wedding anniversary to be greeted by the owner and wedding organiser and yet again treated like royalty and had a very special brunch. Would highly recommend. Have your wedding here, it's amazing!
