Although winter

Gardens obviously not at there best but enjoyable visit and plenty of interest in the abbey itself. Garden did however have plenty of vegetables on show.

Beautifully maintained, Wonderful landscaped grounds, woodlands, lakes, fountain, various gardens including walled kitchen, perennial, bog, rock and lawn etc The historic abbey house is fascinating and magnificent, well worth going inside. Considering it is still owned and run by the Eeles family, independent from the huge resourceful might of the NT, it's truly excellent, and has a peaceful charm and... More

We took our dog to the gardens which we didn't have to pay for. You only pay for the walled gardens directly adjacent to the Abbey. A beautiful autumnal day to wander among the russet leaves. Didn't go into the house, it was closed. A beautiful place for a wander.

It was a cold November morning, but we thought a walk in the garden would be fine. We were welcomed by a very pleasant lady who shared with us that it was half price as only the garden and Chapel were open. Would have loved to see the house, maybe next visit. The colours in the garden were very Autumnal... More

These gardens were recommended to us by a friend, so whilst having a few days holiday up in that beautiful part of Somerset we called in, we were initially a bit disappointed that having got there at 12.30 the next ticketed entry to the house was at 3.15. unfortunately it wasn't convenient for us to stay around for that long,... Lovely house and gardens. Cafe was great, with nicely prepared food. Lots of gluten free offerings, including sandwiches and cakes although it's not well advertised so you do have to ask.

Forde Abbey gardens never disappoint. There is something lovely year round to stroll past and enjoy, from the crocuses in early spring to sweet peas in the summer. Every summer, there is a fabulous Summer Fair with entertainments like falconing on horseback and hundreds of antique cars, food and craft stalls. Something for the whole family. The house itself is... More

We were passind had a couple of hours to spare so decided to take a look and were not disappointed. We didn't have time to tour the house but the chapel was included in the basic garden admission price - it was lovely to hear the organ being played by a visiting gentleman while we looked around which added to...
