About
Idle the day away on the golden sands of this busy beach in southeast Cyprus. Families will enjoy swimming or snorkeling in the warm and calm waters, while those looking for a thrill can paraglide or kayak over to Fig Tree Bay Island. In the late afternoon, walk over to the rocky promontory at the east end of the bay to watch a gorgeous sunset. The bay is nestled in a village with restaurants galore and buzzing nightlife. Arrive here by boat and spend a few hours here, or stay overnight to make the most of the area. – Tripadvisor

Busy beach, beautiful crystal clear warm water with golden sand
This beach is a gem! The most bluest, clearest and warmest water I’ve ever swam in. Fish at your feet and lots of snorkelling opportunities near the bay. The sand is golden as well! Yes, the beach is covered in sunbeds with umbrellas and yes, sunbed wars unfortunately are a thing due to the popularity of the beach. However, we found it was organised very well with the local sunbed man coming around taking payments and policing them (if you’re gone for more than 2 hours he will remove the towels, this I feel is very fair). We paid €7.50 for x2 sunbeds and umbrellas and they were ours for the day. We did have to be down at the beach though before 8am to ensure we got a sunbed. By 8am there were none available. The beach is popular so lots of people visit and will set up camp around you. It is extremely busy during the weekends as more locals come down. Lots of bins so we found there was hardly any rubbish. Showers on beach to wash sand off feet/body which was very helpful. Lots of opportunities for water sports - parasailing, jet ski, banana boat, sofa rides etc.

    Nice day at beach
Crowed but still pleasant beach to visit. Small island nearby attracts different fishes so snorkling here is very good option . Beach is shallow at first but deepens quite soon. Water is very clear. I spent a nice day here enjoying sun, water and nearby restaurant.

    Great beach and sands
The beach was amazing plenty of sun beds and parasol,s to hire. The sea was shallow and warm. The sea was calm too which made it easier for me to stay in as I don't like choppy seas waters. Nice clear blue and sand at bottom of see bed.

Beautiful beach will a great costal path, plenty of bars and restaurants along the way for refreshments. Beach fills up early in the morning, so make sure you are there early if you want a sun bed and parasol. Also, there are plenty of activities for those thrill seekers

    Fig Tree Bay
We took first sunshine in our hotel. In the middle of the day we moved on to the seaside. It did not blow so much and it was easy to swim in the sea, which was warm. Then we climbed up and ordered a salad, beer and juice in Restaurant Fig Tree Bay.

Crystal clear waters, sandy yellow beach but too busy
One of the best beaches on the island. Crystal clear water and sandy beach. Gets too busy in the peak season. It offers a great opportunity to swim to the small island just off coast as well as to walk across the pedestrians walkway to either side of the beach for great views and more nice beaches

    Great beach but too overcrowded
This is a beautiful beach with soft sand and shallow waters. There are plenty of sun loungers which are €2.50 each for the day though you do need to get here early to secure a good spot. Have to say that it does get overcrowded which is a negative, though it is very close to bars, restaurants and a lovely bakery by the sea. There are also public toilets and shower facilities and it is a very well maintained beach. There are also various water sports facilities if you want to try something more adventurous!

The best beach from this trip. Crystal clear water with lots and lots of fish and places to snorkel. Big sea area where one can touch the ground. Not so crowded as expected. The sand is very soft. Big plus that there is no music directly from the beach

Beautiful clear, warm and calm water and soft sanded beach perfectly located next to Capo Bay Hotel where we were staying. Had we of travelled to the beach as a tourist or someone not familiar to Protaras, I would have been disappointed and very overwhelmed.

The beach was jam packed with people right up to the waters edge. Every bed and space of sand had a towel or person on it. I did not see a lifeguard or someone to help with bed allocation so if you had planned to spend a day here you would need to get there at 7am to get yourself a decent spot! Luckily for us we could just walk to and from the hotel. We went out for a morning swim a couple of times which was perfect and I could talk to my partner without shouting.

It is a Blue Flag Beach, but there was a lot of rubbish and teenagers would hang on the beach after sunset which meant more rubbish and moonlit walks along the coast were out of the question. We also visited Stavros Water Sports which was perfectly located and took advantage of the warm water by doing water sports such as paddle boarding and going on the Stingray which tested my strength and my relationship.

I loved going to this beach, but needed to get there early to get a bed, 7.50€ for 2 beds and an umbrella. If you get a bed by the waters edge then you may get your space invaded as people would lay their towels and leave bags and shoes as they were unable or didn’t want to pay for a bed. The sea is lovely and clear and you can walk quite far out.

You can get drinks from the Fig Tree takeout restaurant at the top of the stairs but if you don’t want to pay those prices there is a Plus supermarket about a 5 minute walk down the side of the restaurant where you can get freshly made sandwiches, drinks etc.

Stayed at a hotel along fig tree bay with access straight on to the boardwalk which went left or right along the bay. Beautiful beach and facilities. These two days it was extremely windy which was good for the wind surfing.
Because it is November most of the hotels and cafes are shut so I can only imagine what it would be like during the season. A beautiful place and one I look forward to revisiting.

Fig tree bay is a stunning beach area, especially at the moment due to the limitations on numbers due to covid control measures. Would highly recommend for families and couples, however, it can get really busy during normal summer times. Excellent food services are available just above the beach area and there is a good amount of free parking.

The beach at Fig tree bay is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever been to. The clear turquoise water and golden sand is absolutely stunning. Just above the beach is Antonio Zeefkas restaurant where you can sample some tasty food including local cuisine. The staff are very friendly and recognised my husband and I after 4 years since our last visit. The people of Cyprus are so friendly and welcoming

Warm, shallow, crystal clear sea backed by thick sand. Sunbed/parasol prices are set by the council at 2.50 euro per item which is fantastic value considering the location. If you like watersports you have Fig Tree Water Sports on the beach too and they were very popular.

Fig tree beach has a lot to offer. The beach is public all the way with reasonable rental rates for umbrellas and chairs for a full day. Plenty of water sports activities, rest rooms - a perfect beach.
