David and Giuliette are excellent hosts. They take time to explain the kinds of fauna and surroudings we get to see. There is also time for witty stories about the history of the area. They take a stance for environmental hazards and the edangerment of species. They take time to enable us to have time to see fauna, like sunbathing seals. In the meantime they take great care to not disturb the animals and keep considerable distance. There is enough room for questions and answers are given with care and specifics. They took a lot of time lo let us experience the complicated current system of the Corryvreckan whirlpool and gave so much detailed information that even a layman as myself could understand it. In addition the trip felt safe and being taking care of because they looked after our needs for additional protective clothing, safety and a cuppa and a snack. And not in the least: what a spectacular environment to be in for quite a few hours.
But the most important is that David and Guillette are dedicated in what they do and we as passengers feel that.
In short: more than valuable

Juliette as guide and David as skipper really ceated a context of feeling welcome and prepared for the good (what we could see) and also preparing for possible disappointments (because you cannot, happily, control nature).
With a mix of information about the animals we saw, the working of the tides, notably within the tidal areas as the 'grey dogs' and the famous Correyvreckan, and the odd stories about the history of the region the tour was very much informational and entertaining.
The enthusiasm of Juliette for animals, history and the region and the passion of David for explaining the working of the tides and his heart for the environment and actually doing something himself to preserve the nature was heartwarming.
And we did see quite some wildlife: seals; porpoises; white tailed eagles; gannets, guillemots, the odd puffin, herons, gulls, shags and cormorants. That was exiting. The slate islands with their rugged coast and almost endless views into the archipel were mindblowing.
But to us formost was it the enthusiasm , care for our safety, room for asking questions and creating pleasure by Juliette and David that made the sealife experience work!

My Wife and I had a wonderful time on the 4hr tour. David & Juilete were incredibly informative about explaining the area the tour takes, the wildlife and local eco system. We managed to see some Seals, dolphins and Porpoises during our tour which was fantastic!! All-round a fantastic local tour, would highly recommend!!

Went on a trip with my kids yesterday. David and Juliette are really knowledgeable. Despite being reminded to bring binoculars and wear waterproofs, they actually supplied everything to ensure everyone was well-equipped. They even had waterproofs for my 3-year-old! We spotted dolphins, porpoise, seals, red deer, feral goats, and wild birds. Sadly, we didn't see any whales. The whirlpool was quite calm yesterday, but we still enjoyed the trip.

Well-organised and well-delivered trip by David and Juliet, the hosts, who are both marine biologists. They clearly wanted to share their knowledge with their guests and made sure that they were vigilant to what wildlife we might be able to see, so that we didn't miss anything.
We were, sadly, too early for the whales but we did see many other beautiful creatures.
We were lucky with the weather, which made for a nice afternoon's jolly!
You might want to take a snack (but empty your bladder before you set off on the boat trip - you might not want to use the boat loo; the instructions for use are somewhat complicated).

The views were incredible.
Unfortunately we did not see whales or dolphin but we did see porpoises. We saw seals and their pups, sea eagles and chicks, red deer, goats and masses of sea birds including puffins.
The information given by both staff was not only wildlife related but also historical .
We had the best time.

We had a really enjoyable trip, David and Juliet are really knowledgeable about the area and wildlife and are always on the lookout for anything that might interest you. They worked very hard to make it a successful trip. We highly recommend this trip if you are in the area.

What a brilliant tour! Juliette and David open a fascinating window into the Slate Islands! From the wild surf of the Corryvreckan, to the impressive sea eagles, curious seals, and deer silhouetted against misty islands, the trip was wonderfully varied and without fault! David's skippering and insights into the local area were excellent, and Juliette's enthusiasm, keen eyes, and knowledge guided us wonderfully through the natural wonders and wildlife of the area. Can't recommend enough, I will be back!

This was an excellent experience!
Expertly navigated through the stunning islands by David, even venturing off course to see a pod of dolphins! Wildlife guide Russ was also brilliant in teaching us about the history of all the islands along with all the knowledge of the local wildlife. Both are absolute experts in their field and inspiringly passionate about marine conservation.
Couldn’t have asked for better weather or luck, as saw all sorts of wildlife, from sea eagles, seals, dolphins and even a minke whale! Would absolutely recommend, the landscape itself and being on out on the sea is experience enough, the sightings just make it all the better!

Trip taken on the 26th of July 2023.
Fantastic tour saw a lovely variety of wildlife.
Both crew members were very knowledgeable and nice. David was a great skipper made us feel all very comfortable. Rosie was fantastic, both at assisting in making sure we were safe ,getting the boat out to sea and giving us interesting information and answering any questions we had on the wildlife.
Thanks guys!!

Hi when is the best season to see minke whales? Thanks
Written 16 February 2020
Minke whales normally arrive late May to early June, although ten odd individual may arrive sooner. They leave in September, or early October. They are wild animals and nobody can guarantee sightings, however the area we work in has been protected for 13 years and has a great abundance and variety of wildlife.

Hi, I saw someone had mentioned that you provide a dog sitting service for people going on trips. I was wondering is this to be arranged much in advance ?
Written 19 May 2019
Hello, we do not provide it as a business, but it is very often the case that you can come to a private arrangement with one of our wildlife guides to look after a dog during a trip. Just get in touch beforehand! It doesn't have to be too much in advance at all but if you happen to know in advance when you're coming you may as well arrange then to ensure a guide is free :)

Written 16 April 2017
Many thanks for this question, September is great for wildlife as are the other months. In september we would hope to see otters, seals, sea eagles, lots of seabirds, porpoise and maybe dolphins and whales. Hope to see you on a trip.

Hi I'm thinking to visit Oban around 3rd weeks of July. Is it a lot to see during that time in term of wildlife? I'm bringing my bf parents as they want to see Scotland as a whole.
Written 9 March 2017
July is a great time for wildlife, there are lots of young porpoise, seals, eagles, deer and seabirds.

Do you allow dogs on board
Written 8 January 2017
Hi, we welcome dogs on board when a group charters the whole boat, however when people book on an individual basis we cannot take dogs as other guests might be nervous or allergic.
Our wildlife guides are both fond of dogs and it is normally possible to come to a private arrangement to dog-sit while owners are on the boat.
We have a pet-friendly cottage available to rent close to our pontoon.

We are off to Oban in the next couple of weeks. Do you think it'd be worth booking this trip?
Written 4 October 2016
It is a good time of year for wildlife. We have been seeing white fluffy seal pups, otters, eagles and porpoise on recent trips. It is the time of one of the great wildlife spectacles of Scotland - the deer rut.
Please check out the trip calendar on our website and contact us for more information. David, owner / skipper
