I went to this beach because a lot of people in Germany told me how cool it was but I guess we have different standards for beaches. The good things are the giant wheel, there are places to go bungee jumping and similar, going to the platform with many restaurants you can have a nice view from the beach. However, that's it, despite a sunny warm day it was still too cold and windy for me. But ok, there is no way to change the weather conditions however, I did not find toilets for free, you had to pay one euro for all of them. Restaurants by the beach did not have toilets. Not even McDonald's. Furthermore, everything was expensive. Honestly, it is better to invest in a vacation in a Mediterranean destination that you will have more fun and eat better. I think if you are from The Netherlands anyway then it is valid to spend one day in Schevingen but not more.

We spent a few days here and found it totally relaxing. We were glad to find so many good quality restaurants in the beach area and around Scheveningen. It was a bit crowded on Easter Sunday, but that was not surprising at all. There is so much to do and see for everyone, wether they are young or old!

Beautifull, wide beach with soft sand. You can walk there barefoot many kilometers.
Along the beach there are a lot of nice cafe and restaurants. The most outstanding building is Kurhaus opened in 1886

I guess how one appreciates or not a place is a matter of taste.
We were there in July and on a week-end. Only for sightseeing. It was extremely crowded, not very clean, not pretty, all built up with old attractions, commercial centers, etc.
It was not nice to see; it is not a beach I would go to for beach activities.
The sea front offers some nice buildings but lost in a cacophony of other constructions.
For us it was a waste of time.

This beach is georgous, there are ong lines of restaraunts and playgrounds. It is great to go on cold days for a stroll and on hot days for a swim. The ferris wheel is amazing. I would recomend going farther away from the ferris wheel on hot days because it is less crowded and where the locals are.

Good place for a stroll but it lacks the most basic facilities: if you need to go to the toilet, you have to pay 1€ per person in a shopping centre or go to a restaurant. It is not an option to buy an ice cream or a drink in any of the many kiosks as they do not have toilets! Disappointing.

During the summer Scheveningen beach can be as busy as Brighton. Especially during the first sunny weekends of the season roads can be blocked by tourists and public transport is advisable. At other times this is a calm beach resort, where you can have a swim, a stroll or enjoy a meal by the seafront. Northern beach is better is you want to avoid the crowds.
During the winter season most of the beach restaurants are in storage and you can enjoy the plain beach. A storm is spectacular.

Like most beaches, this beach is best enjoyed when not crowded. It is every day meticulously kept clean. Good for a walk, a swim or an evening out on the boulevard. Also the 'pier' offers an easy stroll and a view on the beach from seaside.

During a recent Valentine's weekend stay in The Hague, we took the tram up to Scheveningen Beach for a long walk along the seafront. If you get off the tram at the beautiful Grand Hotel Amrath Kurhaus you can walk along the beach to the right and go under the pier or turn left, as we did.
We decided to walk down past the old lighthouse to the harbour entrance and took a stroll out on one of the breakwaters. The views back to De Pier are breathtaking.
Unfortunately the stunning grandeure of the old hotel is somewhat spoilt by the hideous 70's (?) architecture surrounding it, but it's good to see that the lighthouse and hotel remain and appear to be well looked after.

To be honest, this beach is really really nice, specially if you plan to visit it on a summer. The clean path and the sand itself make the place much more enjoyable. It is a place you can spend hours and hours, if you hace good weather. If you are used to go to the beach on warmer places, the water can be considered pretty cold, so most of your time there will be spent outside the water. If you have a little bit more of spirit, you can take some surf lessons. When tired, you can simply have lunch, dinner or a snack, since there are multiple restaurants over there.
