Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Friendly greeting by the staff member, wandered around the lovely courtyard and then into the museum. We browsed along the shelves admiring the many old pottery items, local to the area. Well worth a visit.

Stopped by this museum not expecting much and was delighted to find that it has quite a few great artifacts including petroglyphs and pottery. It is not expensive to get in, a few USD is all. Fortunately we were with our private guide who was able to translate for us. It is worthwhile stopping in for a visit if you are already in Cachi.

This small museum has a great collection of stone petroglyphs and other items from the pre Hispanic era. Very interesting and well worth the visit.

This museum should not be missed. There is an especially good collection of pottery and stone pieces covering a wide period of time. The items are well displayed and the explanations informative. Personally I would like this informative material to be presented in a larger print format. I was squinting all the time. But the explanations were worth the "tired" eyes.

Cachi is a small town
Tourists go through while enjoying the spectacular drive from Salta to Cafayete
If you're there , don't miss this little gem of a museum
It's a glorious potted history of the area - with one wall casually displaying amazing and very old carvings on stone done by the PreHispanic people
And they're friendly cheerful people here - as demonstrated by their being kind to the ( well fed and casually friendly )street dogs who loll around in the sun
A good spot

This little museum in the beautiful town of Cachi is very special. You really get the feel of the ancient past of the area. The curator was very helpful in trying to explain the genuine Diaguita petroglyphs to me, as it was all in Spanish. These date way back to before Inca times and are displayed impressively around the sunny courtyards, with many other articles like urns as well.

We went here as part of our tour with an English speaking guide which was fortunate as the displays had comprehensive descriptions but only in Spanish. It is a small museum but many of the contents were very relevant to the local area and gave us a good understanding of the indigenous people who had lived nearby in the past.

When you pay the small fee they will provide a short set of descriptions in English on paper protected by plastic. All the signs and labels are in Spanish. They have well displayed artifacts found in the area with an emphasis on pottery. In a separate courtyard there is a collection of paintings by local artists/

Not expensive, something like ARG60 but there are only 5 rooms (connected) and it takes about 15 mins to see everything (longer if you are to read or study the exhibits).

It contains many stone carvings, large well preserved urns and artifacts discovered in the area.

But all explanations are written in Spanish. Staff speak only Spanish, so are people the entire town of Cachi. English generally isn't very common in northwest Argentina.

Cachi town is very small. If you have time with not much to do, this museum is a good place to spend a quarter to half an hour.
