Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Cape Woolamai Walk is one of the best treks on Phillip Island. You will get a great view of Bass Strait. You are also likely to see the MUtton Birds, or more correctly, short-tailed shearwaters. You should allow several hours for the trip.

This walk is supposed to take 3 hours. My almost-adult daughter and I did it in 2, with stops to take 40+ photos, because the scenery around every corner is magical.

Hot tip #1 - drive as far as you can. To the last car park with the cafe.

Hot tip # 2 - the walk starts along the beach. The first sign in the car park points you in the right direction. Then you walk along the beach towards the cliffs for what seems like way too long. Eventually you will come across the stairs that take you off the beach and onto the trail.

From then on, you won’t be stopping to catch your breath, purely for photos.

Hot tip #3 - don’t be fooled into taking the ‘short’ trip back via the same beach. Stay right on the trail and head to the quarry. The less-rugged scenery isn’t quite as spectacular, but the contrast is amazing.

Follow the inland beach for what seems like another eternity until you find the walk-though. Straight back to the car park.

If anyone knows of a better 2-3 hour walk within 2 hours of Melbourne, please let me know!!

This is a picturesque easy walk from the surf club (lots of parking) to the Pinnacles where the view is breathtaking. We decided to complete the whole loop including the quarry. Not only is the view spectacular the wildlife along the way (little wallabies) were plentiful. This is a must whilst in Phillip Island.

A lovely mostly easygoing undulating hike along a spectacular coast line. Weird dead birds tho. Amazing trees and shrubs. Toilets at the car park. Mixture of beach walking and cliff walks.

Very scenic views around the cape. It is a fairly easy walk but quite long. There are a few different options to shorten the route a bit. Definitely recommend if visiting Phillip Island

The scenery is unspoilt and spectacular. The home nesting area for short tailed shearwater birds is amazing. The trail is easy to walk and has to be one of the most spectacular I’ve ever done

My wife and I went on this coastal walk for the first time, a few days ago during our holiday in Phillip Island for two nights.

We parked our car at the car park at Cape Woolamai beach and walked the 2.2 kilometers to The Pinnacles. After that, we walked back to our car.

We enjoyed the spectacular views, the physical exercise and the sunshine. The Spring weather was perfect during our walk.

Cape Woolamai is a good place to see nature. You see some spectacular ocean views and lots of wildlife, including wallabies. You will also see lots of seabirds, including the short-tailed shearwaters, better known as mutton birds. The mutton birds nest in burrows on Cape Woolamai, please try not to disturb them. If tread on one of their burrows and it caves in, don't worry too much, the bird will dig it out. You may see tiger snakes, which prey on the mutton birds. If you do see a snake, leave it along and in all probablitty it will leave you alone. The trip on Cape Woolamai Walk is likely to take around three hours for someone with average fitness.
