The Penguin PIE Pass was a good opportunity to see some cute locals. The pass was purchased a few months in advance which was great as when we went to pick up the tickets as the penguin passes were sold out for the session we were attending. We arrived at the location and we decided to eat dinner at the... More

Need I say more? When I heard there was a place near Melbourne where you could see penguins appear from the ocean, I knew I had to witness it for myself. As most of you are probably wondering, don’t penguins only live in really cold places? Nope, these are a different species than the ones in Antarctica. Also, is it... More

Nature at its best-OBSERVE penguins as they come out of the surf at night and watch as they come into the beach and walk to their burrows.

Definitely, the Penguin Parade is a natural phenomenon that everyone should see...but it also takes some preparation/timing and luck to endure the crowds and elements to see the penguins. Our visit was in November so your weather conditions will vary. We relied on a large tour bus company to bring us up from Melbourne and the general arrangements were successful... More

The penguin parade is absolutely amazing. Upon arrival you enter through the visitors centre, it had toilets, gift shop and cafeteria. Exiting the visitors centre, the board walks lead to the seating area. You can see the penguin houses along he boardwalks. The bleachers get very crowded. When it gets dark the penguins come out of the ocean in groupings... More

Bought a general admissions ticket which got me into the general beach stands. As the rangers pointed out, sit along the sides of the stand or on the sand. If you sit on the sand beware of all the tourists that will suddenly rush onto you or in front of you when the penguins start coming out of the water.... More

First, the ocean and landscape around Phillip Island is stunning so go early enough to enjoy the visitor center and the boardwalk near the ocean. Then, the penguin parade begins near dark and what an amazing spectacle to watch hundreds of penguins coming out of the water and waddling up the hill to their burrows. This is just magical and... By far the highlight of our visit to Phillip Island was the Penguin Parade, these are the smallest of all the penguins and stand less than a foot high, they go out to sea to feed before dawn and come back after dark in order to be safe from predators, the viewing galleries are very good and so are the... This is a beautiful island and has stunning scenery. The penguins coming ashore at sunset was magical, only minus was the noisy and inconsiderate visiting hoards of Chinese tourists who did not listen to staff instructions and constantly stood up and blockec our view. Perhaps limiting the numbers of visitors would help. Expect crowds !!
