Includes the Leaping Tiger Gorge in this canyon. Beautiful natural settings along the way. Not a large population in this part of the country so great viewing.

Passing this gorge, we were able to see the beauty of the deep valley and the winding river below and especially, the snow covered road where we were parking our car. The view of this valley reminds me of my three times visit to the Grand Canyon in the U.S. The air was so fresh and cold as there were... More

Sadly the tour we were on only allowed us an hour here (but left us at shopping centers for 2 hours). This is a beautiful. Visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge as it was the highlight of our visit.

We stopped on our drive back from Baishuitai to Tiger Leaping Gorge to view the sunset on the upper reaches of the Gorge. The sun setting between the mountain range of the steep gorge walls and the river below was really beautiful. From where we stood, we could looked down on Daju. a town with a ferry crossing.

Tiger Leaping Gorge is divided into 3 sections, upper, middle and lower. Upper and middle is closer to Shangrila and lower is closer to Lijiang. Shanghutiao Canyon (上虎跳) simply refers to the upper section, which is the most popular section for tourists, because the walk is shorter compared to the other two. This section is accessible by car and we... More
