Some reviewers have complained that the tour is in French. They are correct in that respect. Though I live in the States I am bilingual French-English, so for me that was not a problem. I simply translated for my friend. That said, there is much...More

The chateau can only be visited with a guided tour and unfortunately they did not have tours for English speakers, however, the display cases did have English translations, unfortunately, not enough time was given to read the information pertaining to Chateaubriand. The grounds were poorly...More

I walked around the grounds due to a long wait for the next guided tour but was so disappointed I didn't wait to look around the Chateau (which looked small and covered in scaffolding anyway). There is nothing worth seeing in this large garden area,...More

The guide speaks only French. We understand that we are in France but better accommodation could be made for non-French speakers. There were people from the USA, Spain, Italy and Australia in our group. We were provided with a card which had about 12 lines...More

You can only go around this chateau with a guide, so be prepared to wait. The guide was not very interesting . There were young children on the tour and it is too boring for them . The history related to Chateabriand was interesting and...More

Interesting Chateau, worth the visit, although somewhat overpriced. Teadious talk by the guide (standard text, monotonous sound).

Our family attended Combourg's annual Horse & Carriage show. There was a parade of horse-drawn carriages that crossed the village and entered the castle's park. Many fine breeds of horses and some lovely old carriages. A lot of fun festivities including a corps de chasse....More

Dear Visitor, Thank you for your feedback. As this is a 12th-century castle there is always something to restore. It is the reason this medieval castle, in such excellent preservation, is still standing today. We are sorry that the tour guide spoke too fast for...More

You can only visit the chateau when the tours take place, since people still live there and the will not let you wander around. It is beautiful inside, and there are impressive works of art on display. Tours are in French, except at 3PM when...More
