Went with our kids this summer (ages 8 & 10) and were pleasantly surprised. Excellent explanation of events using a variety of media. The 360 visual was realistic, but not horrific for our 8-year old. Lots of interesting and well-laid out displays in both French and English.

This is a unique museum -- funded by the private sector but still overwhelming Canadian. The museum is like walking into an interesting Grade 10 history class. Tons of context, all special populations covered, a downplaying of violence and heroism, a big search for broader meaning, and such comprehensive coverage. We went to the centre the same day that we... More

We were on a tour of France/Belgium WWI and WWII battlefields. Great spot and well signed. Allow at least 2 hours on site for museum and beach area.

Two things stand out about this museum; the way that it places D Day in the context of the events of the 1930s and 40s and that it serves to remind us of the huge contribution of the Canadians to the liberation of Europe.

Lots of great concepts to explain the war experience. Felt that the introduction which puts you in a landing craft approaching the Normandy beach was an amazing one but also felt that it missed the mark by trying to pack too much in. I think the memories of the soldier mixed with the actual experience detracted from the horror he... More

The story off the D Day landings by the Canadians. Not just the landings but also the story of the Canadian people that took part, including a brief history of Canada. In addition to the museum is an optional tour or the beach and fortifications, with a Canadian guide. I highly recommend this. The guide was very knowledgeable, helpful and... More

Great experience, the visit is worth it. It's unbelievable when you walk on the beach and realize what happened there 70 years ago.

We came to the museum with our 2 children aged 8 and 12 years old. We had the most amazing time. I followed the children's experience and we completed our information and questions. Great interactive displays. The staff were very friendly and informative. It was great to see and hear what the experiences were in Canada and France. This was... More

Excellent organized museum with lots of information presented in a very modest way. We learned a lot about the heroic role the Canadians played in the liberation of Europe. It was moving; especially the end of the last film. Indeed, we should not forget and keep memories alive for ever.
