Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very enjoyable time going up and down the line on Sunday. Interesting diesel hauled us and it’s not a very long journey, but we did it a couple of times as we had a rover ticket and in between the hourly service we went to the shop and small museum and even the nature reserve nearby.

Extremely nice staff and we even got into the signal box and found out some interesting information about it and the railway.

The buffet car was very nice and reasonable and had a good range of gluten free snacks (biscuits and crisps) which suited us well and we had our sandwiches outside on the picnic tables.

Worth a visit!

I turned up at 3.00 to find everything closed. The website indicated that 3.30 was closing time, and there was no post on Facebook to suggest otherwise. I'm sure the station was very interesting, earlier in the day.

We popped in on the way through Midsomer Norton last Sunday with our little one and were delighted to find the Shop and Buffet open. There were no trains running, but that's to be expected at this time of year and we were planning to come back for their Halloween Steam Running day. The buffet selection of Sandwiches and Cakes were great, however there was little options for children. Whilst were enjoying the comfort of the Buffet Car, we felt like we were shooed away by the rather rude gentleman and lady running it, They clearly did not want us to be there. It was only 13:45 and we would have happily spent more time wandering around the station!

Lovely restored station at Midsomer Norton, all very neat, clean and well kept. Although it is only a relatively short train ride, it was made more enjoyable by the excellent carriages nicely refurbished; something that so often lets down other heritage railways. The shop was well stocked for a small operation. Unfortunately due to time constraints I didn’t have the opportunity of visiting the museum, or the buffet refreshments. I will certainly want to visit again and allow more time in the future. Well done to everyone involved in bringing back this small part of the historic Somerset & Dorset Railway. Very enjoyable visit.

I cannot recommend this railway highly enough. I visited with my nine year old nephew in the pouring rain and we easily filled 3 hours.
The volunteers are so friendly and helpful, John in the museum is a font of local knowledge and tales of daring do, he had my nephew enraptured. We went for a ride in the newly refurbished carriages, the compartments were lovely, a fitting throw back to the great age of rail. We pottered into the signal box where we were able to watch the train come into the platform and finished our trip with a cup of tea in the comfortable and well stocked buffet.
The volunteers are enthusiastic and willing to share it, all in all our few hours there was excellent value for money and we'll certainly venture that way again
If you are considering going, make sure you call ahead to make sure the museum is open and be sure to engage one of the staff there, it really made our trip so much more worthwhile

What an absolutely beautiful day celebrating Easter Sunday with a Easter egg hunt on a steam train with a lovely vintage Bus Ride as well.
Lovely friendly staff beautifully clean and tidy station. You can see a lot of love has gone into the restoration. Delicious hot cross buns and Easter biscuits from the lovely ladies in the buffet car.
Myself and my 7 year old had a great time visiting today. Thank you 😊
Definitely worth a visit.

A wonderful family Santa train trip on Saturday to celebrate our Granddaughter's 2nd birthday. Brilliantly organised and carried out by a great team of volunteers. Mince Pie and Mulled Wine tea afterwards while Maisie visited Santa in his Train Grotto.
Well done everyone involved. Its not easy to organise something like this with covid restrictions in place and everything seemed to run very smoothly.
Very happy to be involved with the Trust and enjoyed running over our bit of the line !!

Lovely to see this picturesque and much photographed station coming back to life.
Though we visited on a November Sunday when no trains were running, there was still plenty to see and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.
They had the shop and cafe (in a beautifully restored buffet coach) open and we were also able to visit the restored signal box and museum. Also on the site are a WW2 pill box and Anderson shelter. Oh yes, and the UXB!
They have also restored the station gardens and rebuilt the greenhouse next to the signal box. Some views are almost indistinguishable from photos taken in the 1950s and 1960's which is a great credit to those who have carried out the restoration.
There are plans to extend the existing mile or so of track, eventually in both directions, and hopefully this can be achieved as the station is such an attractive and atmospheric location.
Then all it needs is a West Country on the Pines Express or a 7F hauled coal train!!
Well, we can dream!
