Overview
More
Lanark Information Centre lies at the top of the town by the rail and bus stations. Buy gifts, permits, tickets and book accommodation while our expert advisors' knowledge of the local area offers inspirational advice to enhance your visit. Lanark is situated within the beautiful Clyde Valley and sits on the Clyde Valley Tourist Route, part of the Clyde Walkway from the village of New Lanark to the City of Glasgow. Lanark was granted its Royal Burgh status in 1140 by King David I. The Lanark Heritage Trail and William Wallace Heritage Trail take the visitor back in time tracing the town's history, heritage and William Wallace's time spent in Lanark. Beauty spots include Lanark Loch with its play areas, woodland walks and a restaurant, and Castlebank Park with its beautiful gardens and picnic areas. Within the town, predominately on the High Street, there are a wide selection of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes. One mile from Lanark is The New Lanark World Heritage Site, a must for our visitors.

It's a bit expensive but interesting to see the workers houses and the Mill Owners house. You can buy wool that they mill at little gift shop. Nice little cafe on site where you can book an afternoon tea party.

We asked for locally owned places offering simple lunches. We left with a local map, some suggestions and directions to the lunch places and factory shop.
