“Worth it if in the area, unusual interior and rustic exterior.”
The building, become church in 13th century, was built on a strong house previous to 12th century. The church was probably dedicated from its origin in the Virgin Mary by Juan Perez de Baztan, Lord of the castle of Jaureguizar and Ainhoa. Inside...more

Not much to look at from outside, but what an interior! Of course the front altarpiece is magnificent, but what is truly interesting is the balcony all around it inside. It almost looks like a miniature opera house.

It looks nothing from the outside but step inside and you will be amazed at the alter and the two story gallery around three sides of the inside.

Light up the altarpiece and listen to the music. The effect is magical and one has to admire the artisans who sculpted it in the first place.

Very nice small church. To see it in all beauty, you need to donate 1euro. After you donate, the light is put on and music starts to play. It really makes difference.
