About
Fort-Bravo/ Texas-Hollywood are the largest western movie sets in Europe. They are located in Tabernas Desert, Almería. They were built in the 60s for the filming of Sergio Leone's many films, the famous spaghetti-western. We open every day from 9:00 a.m. until 18:00 p.m. in winter and until 19:30 p.m. in summer. Currently, our sets continue to shoot films, commercials, video clips, short films, etc. During your visit, you can see an authentic wooden town in the American Old West, a typical Mexican town, a military fort and an Indian town.

Guys this place tirned out to be really cool! I was a little afraid it was gonna be a tourist trap but it was totally worth it! The area is just unbelievable, it's just like being in a western. I can't believe this is in Europe! You get to walk around freely as much as you want, we did the horse carriage riding thing and the guy was explaining us what movies were shot there. Then at 12 pm the first show started (there's another one at 3 pm and one at 6 pm I think). So these actors came out on their horses and did an hour long sketch (more on the comedy side), it was hilarious! We had some food there, which was not great...just an overpriced baguette bread, but the staff was friendly and very mindful about disinfection. I know there's that other Hollywood place nearby that's supposed to be similar, but I think the other one is more expensive and more for kids cause it has a zoo. This one's focused on the western movies. There is an open air swimming pool too by the way, included in your ticket. I loved this place so much!

Just visited this place to stay the night in our motorhome and visit the film set. The reception was colder that the UK weather, does indeed border on rudeness. 15 euros for the camp site with services then another 15.80 euros each for entry to the park which was obligatory. Therefore total 46.60 euros. Went up to Western Leon film set instead. Nice reception, 12 euro entry, free beer each in the bar and stay in car park included in the price. Only shows Saturday and Sunday during in winter. If you visit midweek, you can return weekend to watch the show for free. No services other than bins and toilets whilst park is open. Must be self sufficient in motorhome.

One star for really nice and refreshing pool and the other one for the show (could be much better though, stunt tricks are basic I would say). And that's it.
Restaurant food was disgusting except salmorejo which was ok. Given the fact that shows are at noon they could work a bit harder to offer proper lunch.
Buildings all around are nice but that's not enough to justify driving 2 hours to this place. And for sure, the best days of the attraction are in the past.
So the verdict - if you're nearby it's ok to come, but I still would says it's not worth €20/person

This is not a theme park - it is still a working studio. In face when we visited they were just a couple of weeks from having Joaquim Phoenix shooting there. The setup is really simple - the studios are set in the only desert in Western Europe, near Tabernas. The landscape is amazing and you could easily be in New Mexico or Arizona. The sets include a couple of taverns, a bank or two, a small museum of objects used in the various films. The real stars are the actors who play out the various cowboy 'shows' and if you only understand a little spanish, you will realise they are very tongue in cheek. That's to take nothing away from their fantastic horsemanship. Everything looks pretty authentic. Entrance includes a little horse and wagon ride through the Wild West set and the Mexican set. If you are into Spaghetti westerns you will love it. I would not recommend a full day here though - a morning is probably enough.

Just one cafe in the whole place to eat and only until 16.45pm. we visited end of October so possibly it's because it's the end of the season. Only pizza and toasties available we were told. Nothing open at all after 19.00pm. we stayed in self contained cabin with fridge and microwave. No cutlery or crockery at all. Not even a cork screw or a tin opener. Why have a fridge and a microwave with absolutely nothing to serve or eat food with. Went to pour a drink not even a cup or glass in the cupboard.
We had to go into the next village to the spar to buy some knives to eat some cheese and crackers.
Not what I would expect from self contained.
Not a great deal to say more about this place. Pool is small. Shows were ok.
This place is not a patch on mini Hollywood.
One good thing I can mention is horse riding for 15 euros for half an hour.
If you are traveling in this direction don't bother go to mini Hollywood.
The entrance fee with stay was good value just a shame it was let down by lack of places to eat and no means of making something yourself in the self contained cabins.
Apart from the above, cabins were what I would have expected with air conditioning.

We spent the afternoon wandering around this brilliant Wild West film set with US Cavalry fort, Sioux Indian village, Wild West town, Mexican village, hacienda and even abandoned Mad Max vehicles. The Western Show was fun. The actors clearly enjoyed themselves and displayed great horsemanship and stunt skills. Full marks all round.

We loved this place, looks very authentic and the shows were well done. Very dusty but that just added to the western theme. There's a small museum with old carriages, saddles, etc. This part isn't well sign posted but worth a wee look.

We have been coming to Almeria for a few years now and have been frequently visiting 'Mini Hollywood', so as a change we decided to try 'Fort Bravo'. I can honestly say I wish we hadnt bothered. After driving along a very bumpy road for about 1/4 mile. We were then relieved of 63.60 euros (3 adults and 1 child as a child is classed between the ages of 2-11). After that the 'day' didnt get any better. It took us approx 20-30 minutes to walk round and see everything, so we decided to go on the free horse and cart ride, just in case we had missed a huge portion of the place....unfortunately we had covered it all and were utterly disappointed and quite peed off as we had spent so much money getting in only to be there for 45 minutes and the kids already wanting to go home!! We decided to have a drink in the 'Saloon' and again we were robbed in broad daylight!!! Dick Turpin has nothing on these guys!!! We watched the 'Cowboy/Can-can dancers' show and this firmed our resolve to get the hell out of there. All in all the 'day' (approx 3-4hours) cost us in excess of 100 euros. If you were thinking of going to 'Fort Bravo' my advice is, drive a few more kms down the road, spend a little more money and goto 'Mini Hollywood', its a far better DAY out and better value for money.

After doing some googling 'Fort Bravo' seemed like a good place to find out more about the spaghetti westerns that the area is famous for. It was such a disappointment and waste of money. This place could be something great, but there is no imagination and all it is really is a couple of dusty streets with dusty facades. There is very little to see and you are done in ten minutes..... really not worth almost £20 each.
We also stumbled upon where the horses are stabled and at least two were stressed beyond belief (just like lions kept in tiny cages), heads swinging in circles and in stables too small for them to turn. Some of the stables also looked like they hadn't been mucked out in a week, so the horses were ankle deep in their own muck.
Putting the miss treatment of the horses aside, 'Fort Bravo' needs some investment and some imagination..... it needs some signs, some information for visitors, some interesting things to look at (rather than dusty empty shells) and the horses need more space and mucking out!

Absolutely brilliant day out! Yes, it was hot and dusty...No, we didn't understand a lot....but it was fab! 2 shows - one in the saloon, and one outside. Fab music from the spaghetti western films and lots of galloping horses and gun fights - what's not to like?!
Highlight for us was the horse ride around the film set. It doesn't matter if you've never ridden before, as the horses know what they're doing and are happy to walk around. We were surprised that they are the same horses that are used in the show, where they gallop and rear! So the horses are quite fit and not at all 'ploddy', but they are very sweet natured and are very well trained. 15 euros for a 30 min (we got 45 mins) tour of the film set was a real bargain as it was such an experience - you really felt like you were riding in a film. Absolute highlight of our fortnight in Spain.
When we got back to Britain we promptly watched the Dr Who episode 'Town Called Mercy' and realised that our older (Dr Who mad) son had ridden the same horse as Matt Smith - how cool is that?!
We didn't do the cart ride, which is included in the ticket price. After actually riding a horse, it seemed a bit boring to sit in a cart...You can take your own food and drink, which saves some money. You can buy cheap ice lollies in the saloon, which was much needed in the heat.
Quite a few people were there when we went (mainly Spanish tourists) and the staff were very friendly. It's a shame that the western film genre is no longer popular and is virtually unknown to young people now. Full credit to Fort Bravo for keeping the western spirit alive. Our two teenage boys loved it and we've been re-watching the spaghetti westerns since we got back home. If you are in the area, then it's worth heading to the village of Los Albaricoques, which was used for several location shots for the spaghetti westerns. We'd stayed a week in San Jose in Cabo da Gata - the hotel there (Cortijo el Sotillo) was used for the opening scene of A Fistful of Dollars. You can book horse rides from there.
No reason to not feel like a cowboy (or cowgirl?) in this part of Spain!

Bonjour,
Merci
