Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing beach with crystal clear waters. But still over crowded by the end of September with not even a spot for a towel. Quite hard walk back to the parking (15-20min). But the scenery is breathtaking.

Small, overcrowded (people & boats) , seaweed …. Find the overwhelmingly positive reviews baffling …… Menorca has so many better beaches to chose from

We read other ratings for this restaurant and have to say, they are well deserved. You need to book to get a table but it is well worth doing so. The owner/manager is a great host and the meal was the best we had, all week.

A really lovely beach with a cracking walk down through the woods. Takes 15 mins from the excellent free car park. Quite a lot of topless and nudity so if that's not for you don't go. But the views from the cliffs and crystal clear water is stunning. Get there before 9am as can get v busy

Absolutely beautiful beach, one of the nicest I've been to. The most gorgeous turquoise water. Lovely walk down through the woods. We went in April when the weather was just getting good but I can imagine it must be extremely crowded in peak season.

A tour boat to visit the Calas is a good option for those who can´t do the walking to reach them. The different shades of blue are wonderful

Very attractive but like similar popular beaches in Menorca it quickly becomes crowded. Shame really, it is probably best enjoyed on the low season. We arrived pretty early, the water was clear (no film) and there was just one boat moored up, but there was a slight sulphuric smell near the waters edge. There were a fair number of people snorkeling - but I doubt that there was a great deal to see as any fish would have been scared off by the hoards of people. We left just before lunch.

Place is beautiful. We have decided to go based on all the good reviews. However, the water is extremely dirty (water surface is covered by oil coming most likely from the countless boats nearby and the color is also strange towards the right end of the beach (yellow)). The Cala also has a strange smell - sulphur like. No snorkeling possible, very crowded place for such a small area. Left very quickly.
Heart breaking to see such a stunning environment without proper care. Hopefully, there could be solutions for a sustainable tourism for this Cala.

This place gets fewer reviews than the 'main' beach in Menorca but this place is pretty incredible. Good parking, accessible for cars, nice hike, wide beautiful beach with turquoise seas. If you don't wanna get up at 8am and battle with loads of cars and right roads, just go here

We went end of season so only a handful people on the beach so it was really lovely. I can only imagine how busy it must get peak season. The views on the way are awesome. Only slight negative was the strange smell , a bit like sulphur?

Interested in renting a powerboat at Cala Galdana on or around 9/17/2019. We are staying at the Melia. Does the marina there rent 12-15 foot powerboats with bimini tops? If so, do you have the contact for the boat rental company?

Sorry to mislead people, I think i've got Cala Mitjana confused with Cala Macarelleta, in the opposite direction. Cala Mitjana is also a lovely walk, but much shorter and no cafe sorry to confuse everyone!

From the main car park I have read that the path down is concrete- does this mean I can take our toddler in a stroller?
How shady and hilly is the route (would be returning in the middle of the day in mid June after an early start)

I would not recommend taking a stroller or any type of pushchair -- its too rocky and hilly in places -- there is some shade but a fair bit of open too

Majority of the path is concrete, big part in the shade but also a number of sunny bits. Also, the very last part of the route is not concrete, it’s more if a rocky path. The return is rather uphill too.

What is the walking terrain like ?

From the beach at Cala Galdana there is a designated path up over the headland to Mitjana. The path goes mainly through woodland so you are in some shade. It is a bit steep in a few places but you can cheat part of it by getting the lift to the top of the headland in the Melia Hotel. The path is clay and gravel and fairly easy to walk but not suitable for wheelchairs etc.

Does anyone know who owns the massive estate near the beach?
I heard it is a famous Spanish banker...

Like above, you can get the bus to Cala Galdana and walk over from there, we parked the car in a car park just before you get to Cala Galdana and walked 15 mins down a path, it's lovely and quiet out of season but gets very busy in July and august.
