This the official residence of the State Governor. Everything is well kept and the historical furniture fantastic. There are free guided tours everyday but mondays. Check with a local guide.

The staff are super sweet. There is very little to do in Sao Luis and places are to visit are very small and quick so you can easily get all done in a day. Check opening times before you go. We went on a Saturday morning. It's free as is the 15 minute guided tour which was nice. You can only see some of the rooms as the others are used. They allow photo's but without flash.…

Considering that Sao Luis is the worst place for attractions that I have visited in Brasil, I give 5 stars for this visit because the attendance was good, the tour is for free and you can learn a little bit about the history of the place. You can also have free access to water, toilets and air conditioner in the museum.…

The governor still uses it, which is why there are portions of this house that the guides will forbid you from taking pictures in. It has some old pictures and dining tables used by formerly important and current potentates. If you are a foreigner, you will soon forget it. However, there is a machine that takes pictures of your group in front of an ornate staircase, which is kind of fun. You'll spend about 20 minutes here, which is more than enough.…
