    Play it again
Stayed in Rothbury for six nights and went to this excellent micropub every night. Pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of locals playing songs on guitars one evening, apparently it's a regular thing and it's very enjoyable. The beer is very good, dogs aren't too much of a nuisance and both staff and regulars are very welcoming company.

    Unique micro brewery
Such a unique micro Brewery. Loved the bus seats & really friendly landlord & staff. Locals great to chat to. Good range of beers, ales & gins. Became our local whilst we stayed in Rothbury for a week & 5 mins walk to our accommodation. Very good value. Hope to visit again some time. Keep up the good work !!

Nice friendly bar in a lovely town.
Pleasant little bar with a wide range of beers and spirits. A bit of a downside for me was the lack of any gluten free hand pulled beers, but they had one in a can I could drink, at basically twice the price of my partners pint for 330 ml. Never the less I would go back next time in Rothbury. With the hope their range of GF ale has increased.

Many of the modern, small, independent craft ale bars are decorated in the sort of minimalist style that makes you feel that you are drinking in a public waiting room. The Narrow Nick has avoided that trap and is beautifully furnished and decorated in a way that makes the bar feel welcoming and cosy.

When we were in there was a charming lady behind the bar and the Swedish blonde ale we had was top notch.

This is a super wee pub.

I think that it was in George Orwell's "The Road to Wigan Pier" where he mentions a mythical pub called "The Moon Under Water" - It reads as pub perfection in every way, so much so that I went looking for it once in Salford to no avail. The "Nick" is on a similar lever, great friendly staff (5 visits in one week), the best local beers and a right friendly place. Beer prices are cheap mainly because the landlord picks it up himself from local breweries. The others pubs in the town are poor and vert expensive. Can't recommend enough.

First reviewed in 2018 and we keep coming back despite living over 350 miles away! So nice to see the "Nick" reopened after having to close during the winter because of a structural issue. A true traditional pub atmosphere with a warm friendly welcome and a lovely range of real ales that are kept in excellent condition, served at just the right temperature and at a good price. This pub is a "must" for anyone who really loves a proper pint and a good chat. It's also dog-friendly - and they get the same welcome! A wonderful pub - well done Sarah and Paul.

This is a superb micropub on the main street in Rothbury. There is a decent selection of real ales, a couple of ciders and wine / spirits. The decor is slightly quirky with what looks like train or bus seats and it has a good atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

Not very often does a place get the full 5 stars from me. A small, one room bar. From outside it looked like a place for locals only, half a dozen big lads clustered around the bar. Couldn't be further from the truth. We were made welcome instantly by the staff and the regulars.
Not a massive number of beers but enough to work your way through, all very good and well kept.
Huge range of gins though, easily 50.
Staff very knowledgeable and helpful with the gins and beers.
If I lived in Rothbury I would be here every day.

I confess, we only called in here because we parked outside whilst visiting the co-op but am so glad we did! From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome. The drinks were reasonably priced and the bus seats were a really quirky touch which amused us as my husband used to work in transport. Because it's such a small place everyone was chatting and the atmosphere was so friendly. The fact that it was dog friendly was an added bonus and the one dog that did arrive while we were there was very warmly welcomed by everyone.
A really lovely little place 😊

Although the address might suggest that this bar is up some side street, it is actually on the main road, right next to the Co-op. It is a smart and deceptively roomy bar and has become a most popular venue in Rothbury.

Due to the current Coronavirus situation however, the owners have decided to keep the pub closed, but assure customers that they will re-open as soon as safely possible, so I suggest that you keep an eye open on Social Media for further news.

Good fun bar with guest beer from local microbrewery sources. Ex bus seats are novel but may prove uncomfortable over a long session. My end of barrel beer was changed without query. Beer can go off so the lack of argument was refreshing.
