About
We are a Community gallery in Rothbury, Northumberland, run and staffed entirely by volunteers, displaying the work of 140 local artists, open 7 days a week from March to December. We occupy three large rooms, one of which is an art studio, above the Library and Police station in Rothbury and make use of the Art on the Stairs exhibition space as well. There is parking outside the Gallery and a toilet for visitors. Disabled access is only possible when the Library is open. Cafes and shops in Rothbury village are a very short walk away.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This gallery displaying local art is well worth a visit. There's a broad variety of media, styles and skill levels (although I didn't see anything I would consider poor). Many, though by no means all, of the works were inspired by local scenery, wildlife or culture, making them ideal souvenirs of your visit. Indeed, alongside full-sized paintings and sculptures there were postcards, coasters, knitted items, crockery and many other works of more modest scale.
The overall standard of work, though, was high enough to make a visit worthwhile purely to view the collection.
The staff were friendly and informative.

I visited this gallery while on holiday in the area with my husband, baby and mum. We were very impressed with the range of local artwork and crafts displayed, at very affordable prices. There is something for everyone, a wide range of tastes catered for. We bought two prints (at a bargain price) which we look forward to getting framed!

Agree with other reviewers, a highlight of a vsit to the charming small town of Rothbury; amazing range of arts and crafts on display at very reasonable prices. Lovely idea to have a collective gallery run by volunteers

Parked nearby so called in gallery with family, free admission, great look around on a mixture of paintings and craft items all locally within Northumberland.prices for items sell cheaper than should be elsewhere and some breathtaking artists up here.my family were the only ones in 17/07/21 so weren’t rushed ,the gentleman staff who was there on day was so helpful and had plenty of information and experience and was a good artist as he was painting portraits whilst there.we didn’t buy anything today but its a definite must go to if in area . Have a look and help the local community.

Popped in here to shelter from the rain and found a sweet little gallery with lots of local artists' work. Nice to see a mix of styles and media, also originals and prints to suit a variety of budgets.

Lovely little gallery with a pleasing array of crafts - paintings, pottery, jewellery, cards, hand knits etc. etc.
Reasonable prices and friendly staff. My husband and I enjoyed our visit very much.

We called into Rothbury for the day on our way back from Scotland. We had searched for galleries beforehand on the internet and this one came up. What a wonderful display of art and crafts from local artists! A not for profit organisation too which offers a great opportunity for people to display their work without having to pay expensive gallery fees. Well worth visiting! Take some money. There are some very tempting original items at great prices!

Coquetdale Art Gallery is not a commercial gallery but run by local artists for local artists. All of the staff are volunteers and the standard of much of the work is extremely high. You are likely to pay about one third of the price that you would in a commercial gallery for the same standard of art & craft. The gallery is in the old court buildings above the current police office and is a lot larger than you'd expect! Well worth a visit. I'll certainly be back!
