This is a small privately owned tea factory and plantation. The tour, including the guide, is free. After walking around the gardens for a while looking not just at tea but also coffee, pepper and cinnamon you are given a free cup of tea with cake. Next to the factory where the entire drying and preparation process is explained. Most... More

Hnadunugoda is the best low country tea tour one cold have in a tea estate, factory and tea tasting facility. Extremely tourist friendly place and most importantly its the only one in Sri lanka and one of few factories that produced white Tea which is very expensive and completely human untouched manufacturing process. it also produce various oolong tea products.

It was interesting to hear about the different teas and spices they use in tea, but the most interesting was about white tea. The tour is not too long and you finish off see how the tea is dried and cleaned followed by a tea tasting of all the varieties they produce.

We had a nice visit here. The tour of the grounds was pleasant and the tour of the plant was very educational. Prices in the salon were a bit pricey but it was great to try different teas. We had a very nice host.

Our guide was super knowledgable and the old machines they have are very fascinating. Literally try the white tea, I didn't expect it to be as good as it was.

Fairly nice thing to do near koggala, with free entry. Our tour guide was quite fed up and didn't have a lot of enthusiasm, but it was nice that it was only us on the tour. The shop is fairly expensive and they ask you to tip the tea pourer. Really enjoyed the chance to taste the tea range, worth... More

Enjoyed the rural drive up there by tuktuk. Entrance free and you can taste lots of teas and have a slice of cake! The tour was interesting , seeing and hearing all about the process. We also visited the factory, where some of the machinery is 150 years old.Finished with a visit to the shop (!) but no real pressure... More

A good trip for half a day from the Galle area. Very easy to access by bus (just get on a bus going along the Galle-Matara road and get off at Kathaluwa railway station, then you can Tuk Tuk from the road easily). The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, we got to try different teas and some cake and... More

After seeing the highland plantations near Nuwara Eliya, we wanted to see a lowland plantation. Handunogoda was more beautiful and we were given much more information about the tea processes and about other plants. Joseph, our guide was full of information and ttpook time to explain things and answer our questions. The tea and chocolate cake were delicious and we... More

During the vocation we stayed in Koggala, so it was the only tea factory in our area. Excursion is free. It starts with a cup of tea and "brownie", than you walk with a English-speaking guide through the plantation to the factory. I can't say, that excursion is much informative, though you can make some lovely photos. The third step... More
