This is not Niseko. Furano is much more chilled and relaxed without the shenanigans that may be annoying to some who are not into drunken foreigners. Get a guide to show you the backcountry / side-country once you are done with the piste. The new gate system is a good guide for the side-country if you are not keen to... More

After riding niseko for a couple of weeks headed to furano for 2 weeks in February. We were disappointed in the terrain options and lack of good powder. Much less annually than niseko I know but still a dramatic reduction in freshies available.

I'm no expert in snowboarding and was pleasantly surprised by the various slope options available for intermediate snowboarders like myself. There weren't too many people around hence making it easy for me to polish my skills and the powdery soft snow allowed me to ride with less fear. I think this is a great ski resort for families, perhaps not... More

Very nice resort. Lots of families around. Not too crowded as there is minimal nightlife around to entertain the party peeps. If you're looking for good snow, without the usual drunken idiots, this is a great resort. If you're after nightlife maybe try somewhere further south..

so after having a rest form skiing for about 16 years this was my second resort to ski this year and it delivered so much, the snow was stunning and there was plenty of it. There were plenty of runs to keep me happy but also enough for my wife who is a lot more advanced and experienced skier than... More

There were a heap of ski slopes for beginners to experts in Furano ski resort. But when I went there in Dec. 2014, half of ski slopes were closed due to shortage of snow. So I went here from Mar. 6 to 8, 2016. However, it rained down on Mar. 6, I was unable to enjoy skiing in such a... More

I liked this ski resort, but like most other Japanese resorts, it precludes off piste skiing. This didn't stop me as the benefits of the outstanding powder off piste skiing outweighed the risks of getting caught. In any case I didn't notice any policing. I think spending 2-3 days at this resort is about right.

Enjoyed a few days skiing at Furano. The best graded pistes I've ever seen in 50 years of skiing. Not enough off piste skiing to hold my interest for more than a few days but I bore easily. Others stayed for longer and found lots of back country skiing. There is little in the way of nightlife but that was... More

We came to Japan for a 25 day snowboarding adventure. Prior to arriving in Furano, we had been snowboarding for 7 days in Niseko, Kiroro and Rusutsu. We did 2 days of boarding on Furano mountain on our own and 1 day with a guide and it was amazing! The powder was light, dry and deep. Lots of fresh tracks... More
