Very interesting informative tour which lasted for about one hour. Given hard hats with lights on the front and we travel down into the tunnel on a train with the tour guide. Going through varies tunnels learning the extraordinary times of the life of a slate minors, who worked so hard and for very little. Finished with a light show... More

The whole experience was fantastic. Right from choosing the hard hat to being taken on a journey made so many years ago. Our guide was very knowledgeable and she was able to relate to both children and adults. The special effects in the mine were excellent and some thought provoking. Back on the surface, we were taken to where they... More

A truly fascinating day. Well worth a visit. Very moving at times and was quite emotional. A great tour guide, very witty but also knowledgeable of the facts. A large cafe where we enjoyed some very nice Welsh cakes and a good cup off coffee. Nice gift shop with some decent goodies. The welsh slate wine rack was a great... More

The mine was fanatic. My partner and I enjoyed the experience of going under ground. We were a little disappointed that there was no guide book available, we certainly would have bought one. As we loved hearing about the story of 3 miners other stories would have been fantastic to read. Worth a trip for young and old. Great few... More

Initial mix up over the entrance fee, but it was resolved. Large car-park, with staff pointing out where to go. Chaotic reception area, with several large groups arriving as we did, and the systems for booking in the various activities did not seem that efficient. The tour itself was superb. Brian, our guide, had worked in the mine, and was... More

We were 4 adults of different ages and an 11 year old. We visited the slate mines back in 2001 when they still offered 2 tours and then found them very interesting. Our guide on the tour was knowledgeable and interesting to listen to and one actually felt sorry for these miners working their life away in the dark. The... More

We took this tour this week with Rich (the very amusing 35 year slate veteran) and were pleasantly surprised. We didn't really know what to expect from the tour but we were amazed by the projected light show throughout the cavern which was enlightening as to life in the mines. Rich was a humbling tour guide and opened our eyes... More

We live 3 miles away from this former slate quarry so when our friends came to visit us, we used to take them to this historical site to experience one of the underground mine tours (there used to be 2 to choose from). We recently re-visited on Wednesday and were all disappointed. There is now only 1 deep mine tour... More

Thank you for your feedback Jilly. Being local you will know that the over the recent few years there have been some developments at The Slate Caverns which have involved our partner Zip World. These adventurous activities I know are not to everybody's taste but they have given the Slate Caverns a new lease of life brining more visitors to... More

We decide to visit slate caverns spontaneously. And it wasnt a mistake. Visit start from funny chatting with our guide Richard. I think being a guide with extremely busy time as half term where is a lot of kids visiting is not a easy job. But He made amazing job.He could not only interest the adults and especially kids. Me, my husband and 15 year old son enjoyed the one hour early morning visit. I am pleased we paid the 'early bird' reduced price of £10.00 because this review might have read differently if we paid the full price. Unfortunately our tour guide was not the best, I can't remember his name but his appearance is very characteristic and... More
