About
The gallery has been operating for about 30 years in the production of artistic ceramics and as 700 years ago, only creates ceramics made and hand painted. This shop is a little jewel in the commercial landscape of Montelupo. The owner Salvatore Mirenda, creates objects with the ancient technique of the lathe, the activity that takes place over 35 years, after he inherited from his father Sebastian, a master potter. Salvatore continues the family tradition of working with clay, enriching it with new shapes and decorations. Our production is not limited to the reproduction of classical works, but adds that touch of creativity, originality and quality that distinguishes our work. The gallery offers the opportunity 'to order and buy directly from the factory or via email.

We didn't take the pottery class but I read about the store and wanted to see it. I messaged Matteo and he responded right away that they would be open (it was January so I wasn't sure about hours etc.). My children ages 10 and 12 were with me and I thought they would enjoy a tour but I didn't plan it very well and the factory was closing as we got there. Matteo offered a tour if we could wait around but it didn't work out for us - next time for sure! Matteo's mom set my kids up with clay and set them to work creating while I shopped - they loved it!! Such a nice gesture. Shes even going to glaze and fire their creations and include them with the pottery I ordered! A true artisan shop and experience, and I definitely recommend making this part of your Tuscany trip!

I actually visited Matteo’s shop and factory in late Feb, 2020. With Matteo’s creative help, I ordered several pieces to be made and sent to me in the US. And then... the world closed. Matteo’s family business and production was forced to shut down due to the virus. Matteo communicated with me throughout his closure, telling me of major orders lost but always hopeful of the time they could start making their beautiful products again. True, to his word, I received my order a few months later with a gift of one of their new coffee cups included! I would highly recommend a visit to Montelupo and the Galleria. The quality of the ceramics is superior as well as the service. We had a delightful day and a wonderful lunch in town.

We sent some pictures to Matteo and he created some designs for us to choose from. We were extremely pleased with the colorful plate and jar he made for us. He kept us informed of the progress and they were carefully packed and arrived undamaged to our Arizona home. We highly recommend this shop and we plan to order more items.

Went to La Galleria as per other reviews. It's confusing to know what is a good product in Italy as much is for tourists. La Galleria is straight from the source and the family is so welcoming and helpful. We had 6 place settings - 6 bowls, 6 large plates and 6 small plates shipped home. They arrived 3 weeks after we left Italy and in perfect condition. They are just as gorgeous as I remember and at a great price. So happy we went there and very happy with our purchase.

So thankful they do not siesta!! Matteo and his mom are so genuine, helpful, funny and creative people. We took a chance and stopped by in between our visit from Pisa to Florence, so glad we did, one of our favorite things in Italy. I can't wait for my own custom plate to arrive. Well worth the trip.

I phoned a few times to tell them that I would be arriving by car and inquire if in the aftermath of the Christmas week that the store would be open. Elisabetta, the owner, assured me that they would be open. And they were. Upon arrival, I am met by Elisabetta and her son Matteo whose eyes grew wider and their smiles peaked when I entered with my partner. They asked us the right questions, showed us the creations both live and on the computer that we would consider. They will custom any size, color, shape. It was a pleasure to work with them both. We ordered a 60 cm. round plate for over our fireplace. It will be created, fired, painted and glazed by expert craftspeople in the next few weeks. Wow! What great service! Would I visit and buy from them again? Yes and with no hesitations. Would I recommend them to others? Yes of course!

Montelupo is the artistic centre of the Florentine ceramic industry . It was on a visit to the beautiful museum of ceramics that I met the charming Betty in her family’s nearby ceramic store .From the first instant , her warmth and helpfulness was amazing . Her English was fabulous , my Italian “poco” but never the less she called her artist son Matteo in - now I had two perfectly charming hosts , nothing was too much trouble for them , I was offered delicious little pastries which I’m sure belonged to Betty , a factory tour , stories of the rich history of the local Medici hunting lodge and how the earliest ceramics in the museum were found in an old well . I could not possibly have found a better experience with ceramics than with these two, their shop has a beautiful range of ceramics - so much better in quality and variety than the standard format off the shelf range offered throughout Florence . They can also assist you in design of your own personalised ceramic ware.

Glad we made the trip to Montelupo Fiorentino to visit this lovely shop! We bought some beautiful pieces for gifts and a few for ourselves! The ceramicist and his son were very welcoming and helpful and there was a wide range of styles to choose from. Everyone loved the gifts that we bought back to Australia!

The Galleria ir real treat - beautiful artist hand made pottery and fantastic family working in the shop - proud of their work, traditions and their product. Each little plate or bowl has a story and a feel of the artist, which makes it so special and so much different for buying from a wholeseller or somwehere in touristic cities. So happy to meet Matteo, the artists son and his lovely mum - it was such a lovely experience, we still remember it with a smile. We bought a beautiful bowl, a plate and received very nice olive oil can as a present! We really hope to order more very soon to make our appartment more colourful and bring the sun of the Tuscany and light of this wanderful family back home in Latvia! Thank you so much for the beauty you create!

Brīnišķīga vieta, fantastiski saulaini un draudzīgi cilvēki, kas ir lepni par savu darbu un skaistumu, ko rada!

We visited Montelupo last month when visiting Italy on a cruise. I was so happy that we decided to go there as we landed up visiting La Galleria ceramics. Many of the shops were closed as it was Siesta time but fortunately the Galleria is open during lunch time during the summer. We met Matteo, the son of the owners who was so friendly and helped us select some beautiful pieces. He arranged to have them shipped to Australia (some of it had to be custom made) and Matteo assured us that if anything arrived broken he would replace it! He kept in touch by email, informing us when it would be ready and then when he had shipped it. Fortunately, everything arrived unbroken. We were so excited to have these beautiful hand made ceramics in our home and are only sad that we did not buy more. I emailed Matteo to let him know we had received the goods in perfect condition and he was so happy to hear that. I hope we will be able to visit Montelupo again in the future and stop in at La Galleria.
