Excellent place with local satff member being very helpful. Not enough time to browse over everything on offer. Hope to be back next year.

Visited the heritage & cultural centre in August 2019. Minimal charge for visiting. No photos allowed. Information on display in this small building is temporary & is on rotating basis. Would liked to have had some assistance &/or more information on how to locate information re my ancestors who left the island in the 1800's for Canada. Would be nice to have group tours of the island coordinated with knowledgeable guides to help visitors better understand the history & culture in a visual way. This centre & experience can be expanded in SO many ways.

Check the opening hours as sometimes it looks closed and its not. You get a cup of tea with your entrance fee. The old newspapers are a great read and tell a lot about old Barra.
