The original church dedicated to St Geniez replaced an even earlier chapel from the 5th or 6th century. This particular building was started in the 13th century with the construction of the bell tower. When the protestants sacked the town in 1573 they destroyed much of the church except for the bell tower as it was strategically important, standing at... More

Beautiful gothic church. The lack of columns in the nave makes it much more light and airy than you expect. Well worth a visit. Glorious 19C stained glass.

The first thing that strikes one when entering this Gothic beauty is the feeling of space. The main nave is without columns and rises to 25 meters for a width of 15. The transept, which has four columns, is 45 meters wide together with its chapels with the organ above the main doors (facing the choir and the altar) which... More

We visited the cathedral on our first day in the area and were surprised by just how awesome this building is. A short walk off the Main Street to the complex including the hotel de Ville. Magnificent stained glass windows around the altar are a sight to behold. We worth a diversion for half an hour or so and a... More

The old city of Lodeve has much to offer. One of the most stunning stops is St Fulcran Cathedral situated within the Hotel de Ville complex. The traditional vaulted ceilings, stone columns and beautiful stained glass windows make for a classic journey back in time. Imagining the time, planning, and manual labour that went into constructing a building of this... More

This is such a beautiful and tranquil building to visit. The stained glass windows must be among the most beautiful in the world and the organ is also most impressive!

How can such small towns in France have such large, impressive original cathedrals, which are all open to the public, free of charge & no security? Fantastic original features including a chandelier donated by Queen Victoria & stunning stained glass. Worthy of a visit.

Typical of the churches and cathedrals in this area. Took hundreds of years to build at what must have been tremendous expense for the day. Beautiful.

Wonderful experience of peaceful mess as the bright sunlight filters in through the stained glass windows. This is well worth a quite contemplative wander.

very nice church, wonderful windows. I visited at noon and since it was empty I could easily feel the "energy" of the place.
