Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Family skiing trip in February. Great family friendly place for beginner and intermediate skiers. 4 hour lift pass was 20 EUR for a child and 24 EUR for an adult. At peak times the queues to the ski lifts can be long, so a 30-point-card might be the better option. Will come back next year.

We took the Cable car up and down and did the Rundwanderweg around the summit. There is a reduced fare for families and we paid €31 for a family of 4 (one under 6).
The path is predictably busy with day trippers but offers plenty of opportunity for a little rock climbing and picking of blueberries, raspberries and cranberries - all without going off piste which is strongly discouraged. We had a picknick 'on the rocks' and a beer and wine spritzer after our walk in the hut with a little playground. All in all a great day out.

Starting from Bodenmais, we hiked through a marvelous landscape to the Gross Arber. The top provides a gorgeous 360 view over the Bavarian and Bohemian forest. As there is a cable car on the other side of the mountain, hikers will see a lot of tourists on sneakers or even highheels. But as soon as you leave for the Kleiner Arber, you will find the quiteness and tranquility again. In any case a nice target for a hike.

Last weekend we did half day trip to German part of Bavarian Forest - on the top of the Arber mount. It is the 1456m high mount with wide range of trails around the peak, variety of fauna and flora, resembling environment from Richard Wagner´s opus on Nibelungen. Under the hill is huge parking place, if you do not walk up or you are short of time, you can take comfortable cabin (12 EUR per person) that takes you up in few minutes. You can enjoy wonderful view on German as well as Czech Bavarian parts of the forest. Your kids and dogs can have as well good fun there (but only on the tracks). At the upper cabin terminal are two pubs where you can refresh yourself. You have also many picnic areas along the circular paths with excellent outlooks. Be aware of good shoes, despite the paths are well maintained, and also good weather that will guarantee "bird view".

We go there every time we are in Bayerisch Eisenstein. It's great experience even for children because you can go up by cableway to the top. It's beautiful panorama and you can choose your way how to go down the hill. We usually go by foot and except a few parts it's easy to go there with stroller (if you look to the restaurant go the left side).
There is beautiful nature, nice panorama and you can refresh yourself on the top of the hill or in the middle of the way down, in very nice, typical bavarian restaurant with delicious food and perfect service, and sandpit for children.
Down, near the cableway station, there are climbing frames and big slide for children.

We started to walk the 4 km hike up to the peak but then thankfully decided to take the gondola (last run at 4:30 PM). There was plenty of hiking and exploring at the top which was nice and then we had lunch at Eisenseiner Hutte. The whole area was full of local tourists and families. Good food and no more expensive than any other restaurant. There are two restaurants that were very busy. I had the deer special which ran out by 1 pm. After this we continued on to the Rissloch waterfall. Again, glade we took the gondola (13 euros RT). Parking was 3 euros for all day.

Our intent was to go up the Grosser Arber with the cable car, but after driving all the way over, we were very disappointed to find it was closed, although the view was nice and I'm sure would have been even nicer from the top... Luckily, the Grosser Arbersee -- a picturesque lake surrounded by forest -- is right nearby, so we went there for a walk around the lake. Although it was already mid-April, the lake was still partly frozen and there was snow all around, so it was great for the kids.
