It does not feel like the real caverns without cave paintings we have been in, but they try and most of us are not allowed to walk in such real caves. First, see the short film to get context (English subtitles). Not crowded on a...More

The care and effort to create the reproductions of the cave and art make you feel like you are in the actual cave itself. The ingenious idea of the recreation allows you to see the amazing art without destroying the original. It is not difficult...More

The way the center has been built is truly amazing; You feel as though you can see the artists drawing on the walls. The guide was very knowledgeable and very patient - it's very well organized. To be able to go back so far in...More

We really enjoyed the tour of the replica cave. It’s very well done and the guides are actually art historians. There is an English language tour once a day at 11:15. All the rest are in French. But you can always get an audio guide...More

The Caverne du Pont d'Arc is a replica of the Grotte Chauvet, but don't let that put you off. The replica is a stunning achievement in itself, millimetre perfect to the point where you immediately forget that you are in a reproduction (even the temperature...More

Was really surprised by the quality of the work made there. The small museum gives a good introduction to the cave and is short enough (1h or so) not to get tired or bored and also accessible and enjoyable to non-prehistorical fans. The cave as...More

Getting to the point, this is a fantastic experience. Everything about it is excellent, from the guided tour, the landscaped site, the restaurant, through to the museum. Don't be discouraged by this being a replica, it is unbelievably realistic and the real cave is one...More

Discovered in 1994, these extraordinary cave paintings forced a re-think by experts on palaeolithic human art. The site is very well-organised, with an interactive museum ideal for children as well as adults and a pleasant cafe/restaurant with great views, but the main attraction is the...More

It is a reconstruction but so realistic, just put that from your mind. The beauty of the paintings is astounding and their antiquity mind-blowing. The gallery is well worth a visit although the video made us giggle with its very modern looking cavemen.

We did not realize that this was a replica until we got there. Then we had to wait over 3 hours for an English commentary. Overall interesting and well informed guide, but not a place I would recommend. The real caverns in the Ardeche were...More

Hello ColinBull, We understand the disappointment not to see the real Chauvet cave : we are disappointed not to have seen it too ! Indeed, this treasure of humanity's heritage cannot be visited. We are convinced that our cultural site is worth existing considering it...More
