Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A must go! Very interesting museum. The owner is more than friendly and is a walking encyclopedia. The artifacts are a must see! History comes alive in this museum dedicated to the Big Red One. It's not a big museum, that's why you're more impressed by all of it!

Having visited here over a number of years, my friends and I always call the proprietor by our nickname of " Lucky Pierre", because he has achieved what many D-Day enthusiasts would aspire to; building a D-Day museum. Pierre has inherited and displays some interesting historical pieces, including those of a medical officer US Army, and has built a museum in memory of the liberators of this area. Around the time of D-Day he has a re-enactment army encampment in the adjoining field. I visit each year as there can be no better salute to the fallen than to honour their memory with one's own museum.

I visited this museum June 2015 and found the proprietor an enthusiastic and very knowledgeable supporter of the Big Red One. He has much in the way of personal research and has items contributed by WWII veterans of the Division. The Five Euro entry fee is well worth it. Of course, if you know nothing about Omaha Beach or the 1st Infantry Division to begin with, you might not fully appreciate this museum. I suggest you go to a museum that will appeal to the slick movie entertainments that some people expect.

Do not understand how people here (in some few cases) can miss the objective of this (small, yes in size compared to a supermarket!) Museum. What can you get for five euros today? Half of an ice cream without spoon on a parking lot not that close to the sea... Here you can get the experience of one man life! This is the only Museum I visited in the area where I felt what those sacrified young men may have experienced on Omaha Beach. I do not care about static repainted or decorated vehicles, or gigantic fake boats... I prefer facing real artefacts as personal items which were wore by the men who fought, died or survived to one of the most terrific operation of the Second World War. My kids were more concerned by facing a helmet with a bullet hole in it and the name of the soldier still on the strap than any big display with Longest Day film poster behind! It took me quite time and willingness to explain them with simple but sensitive words what this does represent but why do you take your kids to museums if not for such good family moments. YES I recommend it twice!
Peter.

it is a single small room. cost you 5 euro and takes 10 min to visit.
it shows nothing new compared with other museum"s in the immediate vicinity.
the items are given from veterans of the big red one.
but iff you have to dicide between museums, don't choose this museum

To me this looked like a collection of "stuff" left behind from the Normandy invasion which was gathered up and put into a building. While you cannot deny the importance of D day, this collection was just not impressive.

This is a small private museum owned and operated by the same man, Mr. Pierre Gosselin, who speaks excellent English, My friend and I stumbled on it while heading for Omaha Beach. Mr. Gosselin has taken the time to become an expert on the entire D-Day 1st Infantry Division chain of command and every Medal of Honor winner from Operation Overlord. The museum is stacked full of Big Red One D Day artifacts both collected by Mr. Gosselin and given to him personally by former members of the division. It is a great litte museum, costs only a few Euros to see, and is a great tribute to the 1st Infantry Division.

This small but intriguing museum is not a typical museum. Although it is tiny, the curator has been finding and collecting artifacts since he was a child and he has assembled them lovingly in this collection. Try to find him for a personal tour. He can tell you where he found items, the stories behind some of the men who owned them and many other interesting anecdotes.

A bit more conventional museum than for example the airborne museum in St mere Eglise. Despite that still well worth a visit. audio guides are good and necessary for a complete experience. I enjoyed the short movie that was available for viewing in both English and French.

Quite an exceptional privately maintained museum focused in on D-Day & the Red 1 unit's contributions to it & afterwards. Outstanding displays of original equipment, guns, and regalia of the WWII era in Normandy. Worth a visit especially for children & history buffs. Enjoy...
