Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It has to be said, I’m a local and biased about our beach. Having said that, it’s a fantastic place to come with young children as there’s a large park and ice cream shop nearby. There’s a shelf of sand quite a way out, so you can wade out some way safely. Because of the local Island nearby there’s not a lot of strong big waves, creating instead a sheltered area perfect for supervised swimming.
Raumati Beach situated just down the road has a great water park for young children and nearby The Remedy coffee truck has some of the best coffee in town

Good place to take the kids for a safe swim on a good day. Perfect for a dog walk as the sunsets behind Kapiti Island or a good place to grab a take away and have a pic Nic with the family.
Safe clean beach popular but not excessively busy at any time of the year.

Went for a big walk down this beach from our Motel. It was endless, clean and unpolluted. Wanted a bag to put shells into but happily there were none to be found. We also saw a seal which the locals say is rare though they sometimes come to rest and bask in the sun. Dogs were also welcome on this beach and all responsible dog owners as only footprints left behind. A blustery, chilly winters day but well worth it.

We live by the beach so usually manage to get there fairly often - at least once a week. No matter how often we go to the beach it always seems to be different - it has many moods. It is possible to walk along the beach from Paraparaumu to Paekakariki - and you can get a train back if necessary. All in all a good day's outing.

As beaches go this isn't the prettiest beach, it is however not unpleasant and if your in the area its worth a look, there is a nice view of Kapiti Island, the beach itself is very long and you can drive on some parts of it, if you are into driftwood then this is certainly the place for you. There is a couple of places that do nice ice cream right down by the beach. Great for long walks. Wouldn't go out of my way to go there but if I am in the area its a nice place to stop off.

What a stunning beach. A great place to walk the dog, play with the kids or just chill. There are plenty of bars & restaurants to choose from. Just love this place, fully recommend. Amazing view of Kapiti Island...

We ate here recently. Chef Helen is in the kitchen on her own and cooks for 40 plus diners. The menu is very creative and unique with plenty of local ingredients and foraged foods. Highly recommended, we will certainly be going back.

This long beach is walkable at low tide as far as Raumati, and sometimes a bit further beyond at very low tides. The water is so shallow that wading in the shallows at mid tide is usually no issue either.

Lovely beach, amenities close by, worth a visit if you're in the area. Plenty of parking. If the weather's good the beach is all you need.

The wide and long beach, adjoining park, playground and boat service to Kapiti Island, shops and restaurants, cycle and walking tracks explain the increasing number of visitors to this sunny and warm region just an hour's drive north of NZ's capital Wellington.
