Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've been surprised by the size of this collection of stuffed animals from Ohrid lake and surrounding area, all fruits of efforts of Dr. Nezlobinsky and his collaborators in the 1920s and 1930s. It gives you the opportunity to have a closer look on many animals (some of them already instinct in Ohrid area) and to appreciate the richness of this habitat. The collection might seem old fashioned and the illumination of the exhibits might be better, but certainly merits the attention of all nature lovers. Open (1.5.-1.10.): Tue - Fri 9 - 19, Sat - Sun 10 - 18. Ticket: 50 MKD

Listed house, used to be residence of the Nestor family: firstly Niko Nestor, a national hero who gave his life for freedom; later the birthplace of Niko Nestor- the first Macedonian who swam the English Channel.

Tried to visit in 2017: closed. Tried to visit again yesterday: closed. On both occasions it should've been open. Same problem as the previous reviewer, too.

My kids were mesmerised with this place. The first thing that greets you as you enter is a 10ft Grizzly bear. An excellent collection of Ohrid lake's fauna from the water, land and sky; all in Taxidermy form. We spent a good hour here. Each of the 100s of taxidermy samples are meticulously displayed in their natural habitats behind glass (sorry no touching).
Entrance is 50 denari for adults (about $1) and 20 denari for kids - well worth it. You might consider making an extra donation as it is unusually cheap to enter. Check out their Lake Ohrid trout - said to have been caught at the mouth of the river Drim in 1970 over a metre long and a whopping 16.5kg - my pic doesn't do it justice. I wonder if the locals ate its insides before preserving it for history???
The Siamese twin calf did my head in! No pun intended.

Nice exhibition, a bit dated and decayed. But it's great to know that all those animals live just a few kilometers away from us in the mountains!
