Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is located on a 3-4 hours bus drive from Bogota. The view of the church with the mountains on the background is breathtaking. The village is very small, you've seen everything in 2 hours. So come here to relax, not to visit a lot of things.

If you happen to be at Villa de Leyva, you cannot and should not miss the plaza. Small town, shops and great food. Get some empanadas and walk the plaza and enjoy the history of this place.

What impressed me about this lovely church is its peacefulness. Do often churches are packed full of images statues icons ...too crowded buy far. This has white walls with few ornaments and images. This makes it lighter and highlights the glory of the got behind the alter, which would otherwise have been lost.

Interesting! This is the main church in Villa de Leyva. The town is actually quite beautiful. The church is relatively simple. It has the burial site of Ms. Antonio Nariño is one of the walls. It is a short visit unless you attend the service. There is no entrance fee. It is one of the places that you should visit to give you an idea on the historical aspects of this lovely town.

Very interesting insight into how the slaves were bludgeoned into Christianity from the various frescoes. Nice quiet place for reflection as to how the local people were treated.

Located in the largest cobblestone square in South America, this humble Church take us back to Colonial Times! Nothing fancy, can't compared it w/ European Cathedrals, but this modest and rustic building with the mountains as a backdrop creates a welcoming environment!

One of the main buildings of the enormous plaza. Worth a look for historical value, size, construction & not overly ornate. Free entry.

A bit of a tourist draw more than a significant religious structure.
Key anchor to the plaza as you might expect.
Worth checking out if you make it to the plaza.

One of the colonial styled buildings on Plaza Mayor. Nice architecture but simple furnishing inside the church. Nothing special.

In a prominent position at the top of the piazza, the church blends in with the neighbouring buildings in the piazza. By central and south American standards, the interior is relatively simple and restrained. A welcome change from some of the more overwhelming interiors elsewhere.
