Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have now returned from our 3rd trek in Iceland with Fjallabak Trekking Company and we had a fantastic trip!

We had great weather, more sun than we expected and only one day with any significant rain. We had super high winds on our second day on our way to the Áfangagil hut, which was pretty exciting. Our estimate was the winds were around 100kmh, and I was blown off my feet more than once, what a day! Our guide Yoan was a lot of fun (on that day he showed us a "secret" little canyon where we took shelter from the wind) and Gabbi was the finest guide we have ever had, anywhere! Steena was an awesome driver and hut organizer.

Every day on our two back-to-back treks we saw amazing sights, so different than our first two trips with Fjallabak. We can understand why the Laugavegur hiking trail (I hope I got that name right) is so popular, as the scenery is almost beyond description. Sure, the Emstrur huts are crowded, but it was worth it. And the Valley of Thor where we finished our trek is indeed a special place, we had never seen anything like it anywhere else we have been in Iceland.

Fjallabak is an awesome trekking company and Iceland is one of our favorite places on earth to hike. We plan to return for a fourth trip but will likely do that in early September when there aren’t quite as many hikers staying in huts.

All in all, we are so happy we did this 10-day trek! By the last day we were worn out, but that's a good thing.

This nature reserve is in the center of Iceland and contains the gorgeous geothermal area Landmannalaugar with the fabulous hiking trail Laugavegur. We absolutely loved our drive through the colorful scenery and hope to return to camp. Be aware that you need a 4 Wheel Drive car to traverse many rivers in this area, so unless you rent a car that can handle it, it’s recommended to take a tour company that drops you off and picks you up later. This is a wonderful part of Iceland not to be missed.

Did some sightseeing in this nature reserve while on the way to Landmannalaugar for hiking on the Laugavegur Trail. The highlands of Iceland are rugged vistas of mountains and volcanic plains. Take a 4WD drive, or better yet, an organized tour to see the highlights and enjoy Iceland. Absolutely beautiful and unlike anything I've seen elsewhere around the world.

Fascinating sites and walks through incredible fissures. Can spend the better part of the day. Good to take a guide to get the info on the geology and history
