Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful medieval palace and well preserved.
In the internal courtyard, there are the various coats of arms of the various vicars. The rooms of the medieval section are beautiful, the Tower is well preserved and the view of the panorama of the medieval village and the Mugello valley is exceptional.

The exterior face of the Palazzo is covered with the coat of arms of the past "Vicari" (Mayors) of Scarperia and merits studying with attention. The inside courtyard is affrescoed as is the monumental staircase leading up to the first floor. The mayors also had their residence here. Included in the visit is a museum of knives and cutting instruments for which Scarperia is justly world famous for its production since the Middle Ages.

We had a limited time to see this site and the small town where it is situated. It was very interesting to see where these knives were first developed. The climb to top of the tower is well worth the view and to see the construction of the church.

Square with church and castle, small friendly town, good pizzeria on Main Street. Lots of little shops selling hand made knives with bone handles, great ice cream shops.

Palazzo Pretorio looks like a miniature version of Palazzo Vecchio in Firenze. Nice and cute, it is great for a brief visit, and definitively the main landmark of Scarperia

Small, but beautiful and so historic. I absolutely love it and it makes Scarperia so cute. You can visit the inside also.

Scarperia is a picturesque small town in the Mugello, and is good for a morning or afternoon visit...The Palazzo has a knife museum and a small library (which was selling books--in English!--for 3 euros the day we were there...The interior of the Palazzo had lovely frescos adorning the walls..Stroll through the town...a great place to buy local products is the macelleria on the main street...we bought a bottle of a wonderful chianti (Villa Ilangi 2015 DOCG) there, and wish we'd bought more...maybe we'll have to go back? Several restaurants are on the main street, didn't see others.

There was a kind of a festival, but we missed it. Some other couples from Germany told us, it is very nice.

You do not need to be a fan of knifes to be fascinated by this museum. It contains an intelligent and comprehensive display of their functions and how they have been used in art. For instance, the conciseness with which it discusses hunting in the region is extraordinary. The only downside for non Italian readers is that the translations of the excellent texts are at the very exit of the museum.
In August 16, there was a temporary exposition of an expedition to Ethiopia in the turn of the century which in two rooms displayed what a tragedy our relation to the countries we call developing is: According to the text, the expedition had been organised because the attempts to introduce European-type agriculture had failed, so an alternative was sought, which ended up with the scientists satisfying their need to get exotic exposition object. Like the museum itself, outstanding work which deserves attention.
