I have been a tourist in the city of Ambato for 4 days. The city is known as a "City of Flowers, Fruits and Bread", the people who live in the city are very kind, friendly and respectful, the in Ambato I have felt very happy because I have enjoyed all the natural places they are very beautiful and fun as a its parks and the Cathedral, it is mild climate is very relaxing. In the city of Ambato you can find different products and typical foods very delicious. It also has hotels with neat and clean rooms.

Clean lines recalling the colonial cathedral which it replaced.

This is the third cathedral which replaces two previous churches destroyed by earthquakes in 1797 and 1949. It is a pleasing mix of a modern presentation of the traditional structure of a basilica. The interior is clean, bright and largely unadorned. Worth a visit.

Must see in Ambato
May 2018 • Solo
As always the Cathedral is the most visited place in any town/city in Ecuador. What is peculiar to Ambato Cathedral is the style as it is not the typical colonial Church but it has been built in a modern style. The interiors showcase nice glasses and woodcraft works.

Ambato’s Cathedral
Jan 2018 • Family
The Cathedral is one of the most visited places in Ambato. Few years ago was remodeled and I think is besutiful. There are some frescos painted on some of the walls done by the reconized ambatenian artist David Moscoso. It is located in downtown Ambato very close to Juan Montalvo’s house. The most important writer from Ecuador.

Marvelous example of a modern cathedral
Mar 2017 • Family
Modest by some measures as the cathedral of a smaller provincial city but filled with grogeous stained glass and carved wooden reliefs. The side entrance is decorated very, very elaborately with flowers for the Fiesta de las frutas y flores during Semana Santa.

Ambato is the capital of the Province Tungurahua in the center of Ecuador. The town is famous for its "Fiesta de las Flores y Frutas". The Festival consists of the Blessing of Bread and fruit, religious act that it performs in the atrium of the cathedral. The city is prepare their infrastructure for tourism and invited domestic and foreign visiting the city where you can enjoy events like: the choice of the Queen of Ambato, the choice of Queen Interparroquial, the parade of the fellowship, the Festival Folklore, food festivals, music festivals, concerts, and finally, the nocturnal round, organized by different neighborhoods and institutions in the city. You can find different kinds of fruits during the entire year in the markets. Visitors can take excursions to The Chimborazo. This is very popular because you can climb the volcano Chimborazo. As a recommendation, I can say that people must have the necessary equipment to climb and thus you can avoid inconveniences with health and safety.

Modern cathedral with exquisite features
Feb 2016 • Solo
It doesn't have the charm of an ancient cathedral but it makes it up in its beautiful stained glass windows and unique design. The stained glass makes use of tricks in perspective, which was unexpected. Very open space and plenty of light. The dome dominates the centre of the space and is beautiful with its soft blue stained glass. The painting by the altar is also very beautiful.
