3 days with the wonderful Annie B in Vejer de la frontera

When a friend asked me to join her and her husband on a cooking trip to Vejer de la Frontera I said sure, why not. I was not expecting the experience to be magical, informative and a fun learning experience. Annie B is one of a kind, amazingly talented, hugely generous and a great teacher. Being in her kitchen learning, watching and cooking was fantastic. Her knowledge and love of all things Spanish was evident. We learned to cook easy tasty dishes that I know my husband and I will cook. She brought us to so many places, fish and veg market, local butcher, venta for breakfast and the tuna shop in Barbate. We ended with a tour of two Bodegas, one which houses an amazing private art collection.
I would seriously encourage this culinary experience. I'm presently looking at her other courses and planning my next one. Thank you Annie B!!
Regards Liz and Tony

This was a fabulous experience. Every day was something new, and even my husband was a sherry convert at the end. We especially loved shopping in the markets - Barbate was stunning- and the cooking days in Annie’s kitchen. Pepi, her Spanish assistant is also a fabulous chef, and her tortilla and paella will be staples for life. We have recently bought a house in the Montes de Malaga, and wanted to learn more about local cooking. We are now reaping the rewards daily as we cook dish after dish from the course, having gained a whole new repertoire using local ingredients. The week is generous and great fun, but the ultimate joys start when you are back in your own kitchen. We would also recommend the walk from Canos de Meca through the pine forests to Barbate on your day off. And also the Baths in Vejer one afternoon.

My husband and I ,and a couple of friend have just had an amazing few days at Annie Bs spanish cookery course, in the beautiful white village of Vejer de la Frontera, and I just had to make a comment. If you want to learn to cook or just want to gain confidence in cooking then look no further than learning with this amazing passionate woman who loves all things Spanish. From the mornings shopping in the local markets for the fresh produce we were to cook, to the preparation, the cooking, and of course the eating with wine and sherry pairing, our days were fun filled and exciting. This is an experience I would highly recommend.Thank you Annie B, I can’t wait to start cooking those fabulous Andalusian dishes

We had the great privilege of spending four days with Annie, it was truly excellent. We had a deep immersion into Andalusian food, we shopped the tuna fish markets of Barbate, we cooked many local and Moroccan dishes, we tested copious amounts of delicious sherry and vino, we laughed a lot. Above all we became better cooks under Annie’s expert guidance.
Annie’s courses are all about generosity, the extraordinary meals at the end of a days cooking, the tips and techniques and the free flowing ideas. She opened her kitchen to us and we loved every minute.

Our group of 12 spent 8 glorious days in Vejer with Annie B to celebrate a milestone birthday. Annie developed an itinerary that highlighted the best of the region, from visiting sherry bodegas and wineries, learning about tuna, hiking, and visiting salt flats. Cooking in Annie's kitchen was over the top fun, enhanced by live Flamenco music and dancing, and Pepi! The food and wine paring were amazing. Annie's passion is clear in everything she does, and we couldn't have hoped for a more gracious host or more fun time. Nothing is overlooked and we can't wait for our next adventure with Annie!

Annie organized a sherry tour for my wife and I. The driver was waiting for us at our cruise ship docked in Sevilla and drove us to the first tour, Bodega Tradicion, in Jerez where we toured and tasted some marvelous sherries, from wines that would complement many meals to very old and rare wines to savor by themselves. The tour guide was excellent and the explanation of the sherry process outlined in chalk on the barrels was outstanding. Then we were off to La Gitana, in Sanlucar where our enthusiastic guide took us through their process from the "base" Palomino white wine to the sweet Pedro Ximenez old and rare wines. He served jamon, and cheese and bread as appropriate to each wine type. Then there was lunch........wonderful and more than we could eat which meant we slept on the ride back to the ship.

An absolutely perfect day.

Another wonderful culinary experience with Annie B at Verjer. This time we concentrated on Moroccan cookery with a tutorial on sherry and wines included.
A beautiful day in Annie’s home, learning useful tips and getting lots of user-friendly recipes.
After a fun day in the kitchen, we climbed to the roof garden for a delicious lunch.
It was the most memorable day.
Thank you so much Annie L.

Excellent short cooking course, visited the local market to buy the ingredients for that days cooking.

Lovely tour around the local bars / tapa joints.

I know this is a VERY late review, but the course was excellent. Annie was excellent, Pep was excellent.

Tortilla de Pepe is remains a regular lunch item!

(Sorry for the late review - I visited in October 2014!)

In these difficult times , I am looking back fondly on the wonderful week spent with Annie and my friends a few years ago cooking and enjoying all the offerings of the local district ( including the sherry!!).
Annie is delightful and it has been our best cooking expedition by far. We are a group of 8 friends who have been on a number of cooking experiences in Europe and Asia and our time in Vejers definitely the best !!
I think if Annie often as her delicious lemon and orange cake is my “go to “ desert. Thanks again Annie
