I enjoyed my time at the bird sanctuary, coming from one of the nearby resorts (Lake Kumarakom Resort). At the sanctuary, I saw many herons and black birds, and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Tips for the visit: - The sanctuary opens at 6 AM. Arrive as close to sunrise as you can to see the most birds. I arrived... More

We could not find many birds though we went early in the morning. We could hear lot of chirping sounds at a distance but because of thick cover, we could not see them. We had a nice 2 km walk.

There is a lot of walking to do and hence ensure to come here when you are less tired and with comfortable footwear! Try this activity either early morning or late evening. There is a nominal entrance charge of Rs.50. This activity is less easy for the elderly.

The sanctuary gates open early in (06:00am) the morning for the bird watchers. You need to track along the rivulets to reach the observation tower. Migratory birds make nests and rear their offspring. Well maintained trail and facility.

They say birds can only be seen early in the morning. But we went around 10 am, we could listen to lot of chirping while walking through the woods. But it was hard to spot even a single bird in the thick forest. We also lacked time to reach the last point where there is a watchtower. Nevertheless, it was... More

We went in the morning. its a little trek of around 2 kms. If you are a naive bird watcher, its best to hire a guide. It cost around 300 INR. Dont forget a DSLR or a binoculars because the watch tower is quite far.
