- Timo KMönchengladbach, Germany90 contributionsGreat ride with lovely horsesWe made a quite spontaneous reservation for the next day. Arrived at the beautiful farm in the Kefalonian mountains. Warm welcome by Conny and her staff. Horses are in great condition. We had a 2h ride up the mountain and back down. My first experience riding a horse, but it was definitely one to remember. Thank you so much!Visited September 2022Written 30 December 2022
- DumfBristol, United Kingdom72 contributionsLovely RideThis morning we had a fantastic 2hr ride in the Sami mountains with Connie and the horses. Myself and my wife are only occasional riders, but we found the horses to be very responsive and well-looked after. We also both enjoyed Connie's company very much, she is clearly very experienced, she is a straight-talking German and she was not shy in correcting my riding skills (which was most appreciated). We felt safe throughout our ride and experienced some stunning views of the mountains and sea. Highly recommended.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 July 2023
- Debbi W12 contributionsExhilarating experience in safe hands.Conny and her colleagues are fantastic. My ten year old daughter (rider) and I (rode a long time ago) spent two hours on the most amazing mountain trek at 8am. The horses were seasoned professionals and took great care of us. Bonita and Freta were steady and more than capable of navigating the rocky terrain and leapt up (literally jumped…) the tiny track to more level ground. Conny pointed out the old ruined village and the fabulous views. I cannot recommend this experience enough. Do it!!Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 August 2023
- FamilyOfFiveCheltenham, United Kingdom34 contributionsStand out, peaceful, holiday experienceDelightful owner with very well cared for horses. Lovely setting for a peaceful morning ride for our family of 5 - our teenage children (who have no previous experience) loved it. It is extremely well run, allow a bit of extra time for getting ready and for finishing up.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 6 August 2023
- Rittika C17 contributionsAn amazing riding experienceIt was our second time riding together and it was such a wonderful experience. Conny and her team are incredibly friendly and funny. They also have some dogs running around, which made the experience even more enjoyable! She loves and respects her horses and it shows. Which, for us, was really comforting that she doesn’t just “use the animals for business”. The ride itself was beautiful with a majestic view from the mountain slopes. If we are back in Kefalonia, we will definitely ride here again.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 August 2023

Overall was a lovely experience; on arrival Connie was very welcoming, we had helmets and saddlebags provided, and she even leant me a pair of shoes as I didn't have the right footwear on holiday with me.
The ride itself was very pleasant. I originally wanted to go to the beach, but Connie said it was too busy and not suitable.
So we rode up the mountain, saw the ruined villages and beautiful views, and came back down.
Helena guided us on the trek and she was absolutely wonderful!
The price seemed a little expensive for what it was, as I was asked multiple times beforehand how much experience I had with riding, but I unfortunately still didn't have the opportunity to trot or canter.
There was one other person on the trek with us who didn't drive and chose to get a taxi. On arrival, Connie asked how we got here, then, quite bluntly, suggested I gave the other person a lift after the ride. This made me feel uncomfortable as I didn't particularly want to give a strange man a lift, or at least have the option of asking myself taken away from me, because then I had no choice but to take him back to Sami which made me uncomfortable. He was lovely enough but I didn't like being put on the spot like that.
It was still a good experience overall and one I would like to do again if the option to go to the beach becomes available.

We are a mother and daughter who are experienced riders and had a wonderful ride. The ponies are very well cared for and well schooled. That meant that we could focus on the amazing scenery from our four hour mountain ride. Conny was knowledgeable about the local area and gave us plenty of photo opportunities. We have had previous experiences of jaded, kick along, horses, so it was great to ride responsive, mannerly, horses. This means that her horses are suitable for complete novices or more experienced riders.

Family of 3 girls and myself had a great time riding up the mountain to the viewpoint looking across the coast. Beautiful horses, caring owner and helpful staff. My husband stayed at the stable with the owner’s dog whilst we rode. Would recommend as so reasonably priced and not once felt rushed. Wish we had time for a longer ride!

We arranged a 2 hour trek with Conny, and it was fantastic. I had only ridden once before but Conny and her intern, Irene, made me feel at ease. The horses are gorgeous, and very calm. Conny showed us the ruined village, and the continual view of sea, mountains and other islands was breathtaking.

Hi. My friends and I are coming over in May and were thinking of doing your horse riding trek. We all haven't been on horses for years and 2 of us are also quite nervous about getting on a horse.
My question is I suffer from vertigo so when the horses go out do they go anywhere near high drops or very high up?
Also do you cater for nervous riders ?
Kind regards
Sue

Hi, just read Katherine's lovely review and it sounded wonderful. My wife has just taken up lessons again at home ( only 3 a month) but we are going to Ithaca again in September this year and she wanted to experience riding in Sami. Could I ask you the cost of your 4 hour ride and times, also do you need a car to get to the stables? We would arrive at Sami port in the morning from Ithaca at around 8:00am and return on the 2:15 ferry back to Ithaca.
Thanks for any info you can share with us :)
Regards
Alan.

Καλησπέρα,
Θα είμαι με τον αδελφό μου στον Καραβόμυλο από 27 έως 31 Ιουλίου. Μόλις είδα αυτή την πρόταση εδώ και σκέφτηκα ότι θα ήταν καλή εμπειρία. Μήπως θα μπορούσατε να μου δώσετε πληροφορίες για το πως μπορεί κάποιος να το κανονίσει; Χρειάζεται να κλείσω από πριν ή όχι; Πόσο κοστίζει; Που βρίσκεται και πόση ώρα μπορεί κάποιος να ιππεύσει;
Ευχαριστώ

It depends on how long a ride you want also are you a compete novice or a reasonable rider.
It goes from about £20 pp for a 1 1/2hr upwards as they do half day whole day and 3 day tours.
Horses very safe sure footed and well looked after

Hi Connie, send an e-mail but not sure you received...
We are arriving into Argostili/Cephalonia on Oceana Cruise Lines on Monday, September 28th 2015. We are interested in your 4 hour mountain to Sea for 4 people. Two experienced with horses, 2 without. Questions:
How far is Barvarian Horse Stables from the Cruise port? We are on a smaller vessel, is there more than one dock?
How can we arrange transportation from Dock to stables – You provide? (cost), Taxi?
What is the cost per person for the ride? Any extra costs we need to be aware of?
Will we ride in the sea?
Do you suggest riding in jeans/pants, vs. shorts? Do we need special footwear or tennis shoes ok?
Do you require a deposit? Will you send confirmation? Thank you for quick reply. We depart US in 3 days!
