It's a hike, so its not accessible for the mobility impaired. It's a great walk though, it's steep in places, but you can see the houses and the layout of the town before the Earthquake flattened it. There's even a church up the top that has a couple of walls still standing. Well worth a trip, remember your camera!

This place can be found by driving up a very long, windy and scenic road that goes up the side of the mountain and boy! Was it worth the drive. It was stunning up there. We were at the end of the season so there were only 2 other cars up there when we went but we barely saw the... More

For those seeking an alternative way to reach the Sami acropolis, I would like to mention that there is a good path from Antisamos beach going through a ravine and ending on the asphalt road between Sami acropolis and the ruins of the Aghii Fanentes monastery. Ascent time could be something like one hour and the trail is perfectly shady.... More

If you like ruins, hill climbing, goats, picking wild thyme and oregano from the mountain sides and incredible, breathtaking views, then check this place out

LIke others have said, it can be a little confusing to find, but keep driving along the track right to the very end. We went in the heat of the day in August (!) so there were only another couple of people there. It was quite evocative; the heat rising from the old stones, wandering around the ruins - you... More

Me & a friend took the trek to the Acropolis ruins this morning. WOW! Such an amazing walk, not too tiring. We saw the sign after visiting Antisamos beach a few days before and decided to go the other route to the ruins. On the way we saw stunning views of Sami. It's just beautiful and huge! Make sure you... More

Well worth a visit to see the scale of the defences of this ancient city. The site is quite large, so if you want to walk right round it make sure you allow at least 90 minutes. The views alone make the trip worth while.

Good to see panoramic views above Sami... Goats... Wild Birds... On the way to the Magnificent Antisami beach... Worth a deviation, visit early in the morning for some pics of the bay of Sami and the Ithaka channel... There are many other attractions, caves, lake, near to give priority to.

It took quite a drive to get to the Acropolis and then we wern,t sure if we had found it. So we drove further along the track and think we did in the end. Not much to see apart from the views of Sami and the coast.
